We are heading to WDW for the Marathon weekend (Jan.8-14, 2009) our flight lands at 7:30am. Do you think we'll be able to check in a bit early?
Oh, and probably staying at Pop- but haven't booked it yet.
For most hotels, it just depends on whether or not the room they are planning to give you is ready early. A good hotel/employee will be willing to look for another room that is available early. But if the hotel is crowded, it would be unlikely that they could give you an early room.
When you make your reservation, have them note that you are requesting an early check-in. Sometimes that helps!

Regardless of whether or not your room is ready, you can still check-in. If you booked a package (and thus if park tickets are part of your reservation), you can check-in, get your park tickets (which are encoded onto your room key), and go out and play. The resort can store any bags you have.
If your room isn't ready, they will give you a card with a phone number on it. On your way back to the resort, call that number from your cellphone. They will tell you you room number. You can go straight to your room rather than having to go back to the front desk and wait in line to find out your room number.
