Early Check-in for FOTL?

Going to Disney April 29-May 7. Staying at POR and CRB. I'm thinking of staying at the Hard Rock for the two days that we'll spend at Universal so we can use the FOTL pass.

When can we check into the hotel? I'd like to do it by 8am so we can hit the parks right way.

You can check in as early as you like - when we were there in March we stopped by the hotel at 8:00 a.m., checked in and dropped off our bags and walked over to the parks.

When you check in they give you your plastic room keys which you need to show at each ride to get FOTL, and also a phone number to call at the hotel later in the day to see whether your room is ready yet. We called back around 2:00 p.m. and they told us our room was ready for us.

But of course we weren't ready to leave the parks yet - we were having too much fun with our FOTL privileges! The kids couldn't get over being able to walk on every ride as many times as they wanted, especially when the wait times in the regular line were over an hour.

Checking in early is a great idea for many reasons.
1. The line is less. In the afternoon, it's a half hour wait.
2. Your room may be ready.
3. You get your magic keys and head to the parks.

On our HRH visit two years ago, our room wasn't ready until 4pm. But for our RPR visit last year, our room was ready, we put our stuff in it, and then headed to the parks.
So yeah, the earlier you check in, the better.

you might as well... my room at PBH was ready when I showed up at 10 am. Who knows how early I could have checked in. I just put the bags in the room and went to the parks.
