We are heading to WDW for Thanksgiving!! On the way to the airport, we are picking up DS from college. He will have his duffelbag (of dirty clothes I am sure) and his laptop. We arrive at MCO at 9:30am, using Magical Express to get to SSR, checking in, then off to the parks!

My question is, do you feel it is safe to let DS's laptop at the check in desk as we head into the parks? I know our rooms (2 two bedrooms) will not be ready this early. Obviously, DS won't check it (laptop) in as baggage at the airport and he won't leave it at college. He will have it stored in a messenger bag made for a computer.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have always checked my laptop with bell services (last trip 3 weeks ago)...and have not had any problems (knock on wood)

I always leave my laptop with Bell Services and have never had a problem. My guess is that there are plenty of laptops left every day. I travel a lot and have noted of late that almost everyone carries one. I wouldn't worry if I were you although it is always wise to do a "backup" of your HD before you travel

We left our laptop in Bell Services twice on this last trip to AKV. Had no problems.

I have left my laptop with them on different occasions. (At both the BC as well as POR.) Supposedly, there is a special locked cage that they can put it in. All you have to do is ask for it to be placed there.

Thanks for your replies. I think my biggest fear is that it will be dropped and damaged. DS has a padded messenger bag that we will have the laptop in.

Give your carry on luggage to bell services and enjoy the parks. I have left my laptop with them many occasions and have never had any problems. I als would never check a laptop at the airport.

Although I have never left my laptop with bell services at WDW, I have at many other hotels with no problem.

That said, it could just be your dumb luck that something bad would happen and bell services probably has little liability for a stored laptop. Double check your insurance policy to make sure you have coverage if it is lost or damaged and, as already mentioned, make sure your son backs up any key information and encrypts anything that is sensitive.

Like it was said earlier there is always a chance that something might happen, but I give Disney the benefit of the doubt and assume they handle laptops with the required care. Our last trip I left two laptops with bell services. No problems. :thumbsup2

Make sure that you have them put a fragile tag on the bag if you are worried about breakage. My hubby has left camera bags with bell services and they suggested that they tag it fragile.

Hi,

I took my laptop down over the summer. We got to Disney around 8 a.m. and didn't return until later that afternoon. My laptop was in the case and they checked it in with a luggage tag. I felt very safe leaving it with the bellmen.
