Does anyone know how to access the new benefit of getting early bird check in with SW Visa? Is it a reimbursement?

It’s reimbursement , that is to say, it shows up as a charge to your card on one line and then a credit on your card on another line. At least, that’s what is reported in the All Things SW thread.

Yes, also the way it works with upgraded at-gate boarding. Pay with your SW card and it comes right off shortly after.

Is this a new benefit that was just added? Does the credit apply to all tickets or just the card holder?

As to the above, we have used both of these (we each have the card w/ these benefits) benefits and it shows up as a credit on our statement.

It's not on every Chase card, specific to one of the Southwest Chase credit cards. At least, I think so. My husband and I both have this card, one of the benefits is 4 upgraded boardings per year. I have used my card (at terminal gate, based on availability) to purchase upgraded boarding when we didn't have early bird & the plane was full and we were stuck in C because we forgot to check in right away. I purchased it for both of us and two of the credits were applied. I can't recall if we were on same record locator or not -

Upgraded boardings have been a thing for a while with the higher AF card. Recently they added a small number of Early Bird Check In reimbursements. You as the card holder can use them for whoever you want.
