Looks like kind of the same old stuff we are used to other than the Wonder not coming back to Orlando in early 2021

yep same old same old and wonder not going to Puerto Rico in January like they have been doing.

One positive thing regarding the 5-night cruise is that it will visit Progreso, Mexico. If anyone is interested in seeing the Chichen Itza Mayan ruins, this would be an excellent time. This port is much closer to the ruins than previous ports. It's still a 2-hour trip to get there, but it's shorter than the other option. I'm actually thinking about this cruise, just to see the ruins.

I took a look out of curiousity. I never paid attention to any Galvenston sailings before as if we travel to the states we prefer to go to Florida. What I did notice is those sailings dont go to CC. So do only people within driving distance book these? I would think anyone who needs to fly would prefer the Port Canaveral/Miami destinations as these include CC. ??

Not sure if we do DCL in the future.. We are doing the Hawaii sailing and after that I want to do more pacific coast sailings and DCL doesnt really offer these. Dream for me would be year round simple Vancouver down to LA sailings with stops in between and an land add.on with DL.

I for one am disappointed; I was hoping the WBPC would coincide with spring break as it does (partially) in 2020 but the 2021 dates are well before spring break. And I'm not keen on the 3-4 night cruises on the west coast (Catalina Island, Ensanada) during spring break. Blah.

I could have written the same thing!! We were originally booked on the 2020 WBPC but had to cancel so was hoping for 2021 to coincide with Spring break but nope :( And none of the West coast itineraries that jive with our spring break are interesting to us (have already done the 5 night Cabo/Ensenada and doing the 4 night Cabo in Oct 2020). Boo.

I'm not TOTALLY averse to taking kids out of school but taking them out for two weeks, then spring break immediately after for two weeks ... doesn't sound great :(

What you planning instead

Well I'll definitely still do a Summer DCL 2020 cruise with the grandkids, but after years of DCL only I've just got off a Princess cruise, as the itinerary was not offered by DCL, and I have to say I loved it. So many enticing places that they offer, which they can do because their fleet is so large, but boy was I surprised just how impressed that I was. I'm taking three DCL cruises next year, but it could well be Princess early 2021 now after seeing the new release.

Same! That's why the 2020 WBPC cruise worked well, the first week of the cruise is their last week of school, second week of the cruise is their first week of Spring Break. But it wouldn't work with my husbands' vacation schedule :(

Sounds good. Did you miss dcl at all on your princess cruise?

We done a royal carribean cruise last year and it was great, so much to do, food was good to

Main thing I missed was the service and the shows, but trying to decide do I miss it enough for the price difference

We were planning in doing a eastern carribean cruise in may 2021 good chance we will have a baby by then to. Can't decide between Disney or royal. Disney is about 1000 more

If I'd had the young grandchildren with me then absolutely yes 100% I'd have missed DCL, but this was two adults only visiting places that I'd never been, and no I was shocked that I didn't miss it at all. The main stage shows were not of the calibre of Disney, but the sheer quantity of different options with outstanding entertainers everywhere you wen't more that made up for it. There were string quartets, singers, pianists, Broadway entertainers, comedians etc. There was something everywhere you went, and late too. However, I'm so interested in the different itineraries giving me the opportunity to see the world that I just don't want to be back to going to the same places that I've already done.

I was a little shocked by Progresso. Sure its close(er) to the ruins, but it's one of the least family friendly ports I've been to. I prefer Nassau to Progresso!

I’ve never been there and know absolutely nothing about it but it isn’t standing out for me. I’ve been to the smaller ruins in Tulum, so I’m not desperate to go to the larger version.

Galveston cruises used to be a lot of 7-nights that went to Key West, Nassau, and Castaway. It's gradually shifted to more 4- and 6-nights that go to the Western Caribbean, so no Castaway. We sailed from Galveston on a 7-night and enjoyed it, but we would not sail the shorter WC itineraries.

I do think it is a lot of driving-distance folks who enjoy the seasonal opportunity to sail DCL without flying! Almost everybody on our Galveston cruise was from Texas.

Not just those who drive...we are flying to Galveston from Chicago for a 4-day cruise because it's over Thanksgiving break in 2020 and with grandkids and school schedule and the fact that it is a Merrytime cruise it's perfect for us. It's ok that we are missing CC. That will be a future longer cruise.

Key West has just been getting battered. I feel like the move away from so much reliance on KW is strategic in that sense.

For a start is has something like a 4 mile pier, so you have to get a shuttle (armed guards wont let you walk it even if you want to), then it drops you off in a market which is just like Nassau's, and when you first get off theres a similar but slightly nicer looking market doing just the same. Then there isn't much when off, the beach is dirty and constantly have people selling stuff and there arent any shops and very few restaurants.

Merida is nice if you like to travel, but not really for tourists, and is still a drive away.

I understand why Disney goes to Nassau, but dont know why they've chosen Progresso...
