Earliest time to book fights from Miami or FLL?

We're cruising the Magic out of Miami in early January and haven't booked our return flights to Chicago yet because I'm hoping prices will drop a bit. I want to be prepared to book when I see a deal. Taking transportation from the port to the airport into account on debarkation day, what's the earliest time you'd book a flight out of Miami? Out of Fort Lauderdale? I'm willing to look at both airports. Thanks!

We flew out of FLL at 12:45pm and had hours to kill at the airport.

They don't address Ft Lauderdale airport, however.

We sail next month from Miami. Two DCL agents on the phone, and in our cruise docs, all have given 11:30am as the earliest flight from MIA. Different from the website I know.

Thanks! I was thinking it might realistically be even earlier than that since I understand it's a pretty quick trip to the airport, as opposed to getting from PC to MCO which is a 45-60 minute trip and I can still book a flight from there at 11:30 if needed, despite what DCL recommends. But I also hear Miami airport is really busy and lines can be super long, so maybe I should stick with that 11:30-12 time.

Anyone know if that is about how long it takes to get to FLL from Port of Miami?

Thanks for the info. May I ask what time you got off the boat and how you got to FLL? Rental car or a shuttle service?
