Has anyone heard of the Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney? I have seen it on another website but it is not listed in the official Disney Guide 2006? Anyone ever eaten there? I believe it is counter service but the menu looks good.
I've been reading reviews on the boards, and there is a menu posted on Allearsnet.com. It's on my list to go to next fall because of how good it sounds.
I go to Earl at least a couple of times a month. They have great sandwiches, though I often will get a strawberry-banana smoothie and side salad as a meal (it's hard for me to eat one sandwich at a sitting). The food is better than any Disney counter service I can think of.
They have yummy sandwiches, which are big enough to split, if you don't have a huge appetite. I've split one with my DH and another time with my sister and have gotten a side dish of potato salad for $.99. The lemondade with tea is also very good.
It is right next to Pin Traders - the sandwiches are great. The BLT is awesome and that is what I usually get. You can't go wrong with the prices either
From what I have had conversations with - with others, it is leased by an individual and not a Disney eating establishment
Are there any tables nearby? We are staying at Saratoga Springs and it sounds like a great place that is close to our resort with great prices too!! Do they have any type of kids menu? Oh, I just went and found the kids menu.
Earl of Sandwich is excellent! I would venture to say it was the best sandwich I have ever had. There are tables inside and outside. It is probably one of the better counter service venues in the whole "World".
We went to Earl of Sandwich in July and LOVED IT! I thought it was awesome. It was great because we had no AR's that night for dinner and decided to try it. The line was very long however it did move quick as one other poster noted. Here is a tip: have one person sit down at a table while another person gets the food...the tables seemed to be sparse.
We've eaten there many times. I have 2 picky eaters in my family. They wanted a turkey sandwich, but did not want the cranberry sauce or other items on it. I was able to order a sandwich the way they like it. I like the tomato soup there, only 95 cents a bowl!! The sandwiches are around $6 each.
My wife and I ate there several times on our last trip in Spring 04...We are planning on eating there again when we return in April 06...all of the literature I have read said that it is included in the MYW dining package as a counter service meal. Is this not true?
DH and I ate here 3 times on our last visit. All I can say is YUM! It's a healthier change of pace from the hotdogs and hamburgers from the parks and they have a huge menu. All of the sandwiches we tried were great. The chocolate chip cookies were amazing too. I didn't like the lemonade/tea drink, but I loved everything else. We wanted to eat there one last time before we went home, so we went and almost missed our flight! Yikes! We made it though.
Earl of Sandwich is on the dining plan. But it is a fairly inexpensive eating establishment (sandwiches are $4.95 each). A small side salad is .95, as is the tomato soup (both are great, and the raspberry vinegrate they have is wonderful).
The restaurant is only about a year old, and it is not owned by Disney - which is why it's so good, IMHO. Same with Wolfgang Puck Express, DisneyQuest Cheesecake Factory Express, etc. Very good quality food all around.
