Earl Of Sandwich?

Okay, you guys have got to fill me in here! What is it about Earl of Sanwich that causes people to arrange their flight schedules (@mom2rtk), dream about the sandwiches, and pre-plan a visit to this place? I’ve even read about people who get sandwiches to take home with them before they leave on their last day!

I don’t dislike sandwiches, but is this sandwich shop truly that much superior than say Jersey Mike’s, Togo’s, Port of Subs, or Jimmy John’s? Convince me to give up a meal in the parks for this place, I dare you! :listen:;):goodvibes

Would it be worth it to write to Disney and ask that they relocate EOS when they do close the West end? Maybe they don't know how much we all love it.

I have to admit that while I like EOS, my daughter is the one with the obsession. She just loves their Italian sandwich. I don't ask her to understand my Disney obsessions so I just let her have this one without needing to explain it.

We have tried similar sandwiches at many other places. I think they're fine, but do have to admit I like the EOS version the most. Not enough that I would rearrange flights if it was just me though.

Wait....... I just googled. Is there really one at LAX? How did I not know that?
There is also one in Downtown LA, but it is only open til 3pm (workers lunches). That one also happens to be only a few blocks from my office and delivers via Uber Eats!

I would not rearrange flights or go out of my way for EoS but we have bought sandwiches on our departure day and had them on the flight home. Only on WDW trips though, for DLR I get beignets as a snack on the plane since it is a much shorter flight. I always get jealous looks from other passengers when I bring out our food :teeth:

I don't get it either. Even before I was gluten-free (which eliminates pretty much all sandwich shops...not that I see this as a loss) I didn't get the obsession. The bread IMHO has a weird flavor that I don't like. Maybe that's what makes people addicted/obsessed? LOL.

Oh my! We are probably much better off not having it so easily accessible in daily life. Actually, I can pretty much guarantee that it would probably ruin it for us. I'm sure part of the appeal is that it's something we can only get on vacation.

My family and I ate here and only found it meh. Thats just us though. We haven't bothered on our last 2 trips.

I have bought sandwiches for the flight home from DLR. I really hope they relocate EOS.

I'm sure no one would actually do this, but while the sandwiches seem to travel pretty well, the pizza bread does not, lol!

Learned this lesson on the day I left last trip. My mom and I got our food at EOS, but decided to wait to eat it in the car. We still had to walk all of DTD, then to the kennels (picking up the cat who wanted to know where her Cane's chicken treat was since I'd been stopping by regularly with small bites of chicken for her every time we hopped that morning), then walked back to TS (cat with us so I couldn't board the shuttle). So probably a solid 30/40 minutes? The bread was no longer crispy and frankly if I hadn't of had it fresh, I never would have eaten it again if that was my first experience.

If it was just that it wasn't warm anymore that would be one thing, but it was incredibly soggy which I know it wasn't when I got it. In hindsight, maybe I should have given the heat a place to vent from the container it was in...

Anywho, definitely very sad about losing EOS :(. I had tried them before, but it wasn't until they got the pizza bread that they had something on their menu I could stand to regularly eat (I don't like sandwiches). Really hoping they'll be there for my birthday weekend in early May, but also already prepared myself that February might have been the last time I ever have EOS on a Disney trip.

For anyone in the Bay, there is one in San Jose. Haven't been to it, but it's on my list to go to next I'm near there.

It's hard to explain if you've never had it. The Holiday Turkey is just amazing and nowhere else offers it. I don't know what it is that makes it so good, but it really is superior to most other sandwich places.

Oh, man. You shouldn't have mentioned this...now I have to hustle up the hill to check this out. Is it near Barista Society by the Water Court? I was just there a couple weeks ago and didn't notice an EOS there.

Sadly, the one trip I tried to try Earl of Sandwich, I got that dredded Disney flu bug and was so nauseated by the burnt toast smell inside that I abandoned my Holiday Turkey sandwich order and bailed back to the DLH. Hopefully someone got to eat it for me! I haven't had the urge to try again, but it IS very popular.

Is the movie theater heavily used?

That Starbucks was a quick retrofit into the strip, but they still spent a bit of money equipping and decorating that space just a few years ago.

All in all, it seems weird that Disney is choosing to diminish the experiences available at their already small DTD area to provide another Disney owned hotel. Oh wait - is it because they'll be able to fill it for years to come with Star Wars Land fans??

My son and I have gotten the Holiday Turkey to go (we live locally). We brought an insulated bag with us and had them put the gravy on the side. It stayed warm for the 40 minute drive home and wasn't soggy.

Mostly, what I crave from EOS is the brownie whoopie pies or the mini brownies. :lovestruc

If that's in relation to my comment, I said sandwiches are fine, lol! I was talking about the pizza breads. They put them in styrofoam like containers and the heat from the pizza and it's just wet inside if you don't open it to eat immediately.

My mom's hot sandwich was more than fine when we got to the car.

Off on another tangent here, but what new Disney hotel?? I'm a WDW vet who visits DL once a year, and BTW, am an Earl-lover as well. For me, not only is the food good, but the prices some of the lowest for food in that area~

It's all in the bread! When we go to Vegas we always bring home a sandwich for each one of the kids.
