In 1762, John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, had his hands full, literally. As First Sea Lord, he commanded the mighty British Navy, was a noted explorer, and also a dedicated gambler with a love of day long card games.

This led to little time for food, so he came up with the ingenious idea (some say at the card table) of putting meat between two slices of bread. From then on it did not matter if you were fighting a great sea battle or laying down a Royal Flush, you could eat great food without too much fuss.

Thus in 1762, the sandwich was named after its inventor, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Now 250 years later, the current 11th Earl and the Sandwich family remain passionate about the world’s most popular quick food that carries their name and have developed the sandwich everyone has been waiting for ….. ..... and it's now arrived at Disneyland Paris!!

Situated overlooking Lake Disney, next door to the Rain Forest Cafe, it will serve hot sandwiches cooked to order along with wraps, salads, hot soup and various sides. Dessert is also on the menu. All sandwiches are at the flat price of €5.50 with children's and special breakfast sandwiches costing €3.50.

There will be menus with drink and dessert plus in time a menu with a cinema ticket like McDo does

The restaurant will be open 365 from 8.30 - 23.00.They will be 240 seats (130 inside on 2 levels and 110 outside on 2 terraces with a view over the lake)

We had a light tea at EofS last Tuesday (7th June 2011)... I had the Mediterranean Tuna Salad which was lovely and fresh BUT it was absolutely swimming in dressing (should have thought to order it without ) and the tuna was mashed up with mayo which I wasn't expecting... I still enjoyed it though! DH had the "All American" sandwich and said it was nice - quite a big roll too, I thought . DS and DD both had the kids PB & J sandwich which they loved and ate all of but I did think that the kids rolls were a bit small and certainly if we hadn't all had a big lunch they would have needed something else (maybe a second sandwich each ) to fill them up.

The restaurant - it was lovely and clean. We sat upstairs where it was bright and airy, and there was a great outside seating area up there too which would be lovely in the good weater.

Bottom line - I would totally recommend this eatery

Was more or less empty when we got there at 11.40 am and a employée was outside the restaurant handing out paper menus as you went inside

The menu is double sided - On the front you have all the different sandwiches

and on the back the choice of salads that can either be served in a bowl or in a flatbread wrap. You also have the Hot Breakfast sandwiches, the sides and the desserts

You then go to the till and place your order for sandwiches, salades or wraps. The desserts, sides and drinks are chosen after and then you go and pay at another till

We ordered The Full Montagu and Hawaiian Bbq

We looked at the drinks in bottles and decided to get ours from the soda fountain as it was cheaper (2,50€) rather than drinks from 3,20-4,90€ depending on your choice. Water is at 2,60e the bottle

Next up were the sides (These were all at 3€)

Potato salad

2 sorts of Pasta salad

You also have 3 kinds of crisps - Bbq, Salt and Vinegar and Plain. We took Plain and Bbq

Then came the desserts

OH took a brownie (I was good and resisted )

We took the crips and brownie to the till along with our sandwich ticket, ordered a Coca Zero and an Ice Tea from the soda fountain and it came to 22,50€ but we showed them an AP and we got 10% off so 20,25€

They gave us a beeper

and after going to the soda counter and picking up our drinks we went and sat down and waited for the beeper to do what beepers do

Which it did ...it's flashes red and vibrates across the table

OH went and got the sanwiches, they put them in a bag which is a bit daft as there are no trays or anything to carry your drinks, sides, desserts....

Yummy but it went too fast. Oh's brownie was very good and gooey but there wasn't any nuts in it. Crisps were crisps and we decided not to bother next time

Took some photos of the inside and out on the upper terrace where they are still finishing off the decor and installing a roll away veranda roof

When we left there were a few more people both inside and out

Conclusion

The sandwiches are really tasty and a good size. The sides (salads at 3€) didn't tempt us at all and we wouldn't bother with the crisps next time. Drinks are pricey so if you want water say, bring your own (we saw people drinking their own outside and upstairs). Desserts are tempting especially the cookies and brownies but even the fruit cup looked nice and fresh

I'm going back next week where I hope to try a Chinese Chicken salad so I'll add the photo when I do

2nd visit - 18/06/2011

we went back again this lunchtime. There were a few people but not as many as I though would be there.

Oh ordered a Beef n Bleu sandwich and I choose the Chinese Chicken Salad and asked for the dressing on the side. We got our beeper and went and sat upstairs. It went off after 5 mins and OH brought me this

Looks good but then it all goes wrong .....I opened it and looked through it and thought bof it's a bit flat. There's salad stuff, bits of chicken and that's it. No Chinese mix and no crispy Wontons

So I went back downstairs and asked the girls behind the counter and they were like it was normal that there wasn't any as they haven't found a supplier yet

A manager came along and said that I could have something else and that the girl should have said upfront that there was missing ingredients before taking that my order.

So I thought I'd try a CarribeanJerk sandwich and there he told me that they were missing an ingredient (Banana Peppers) from that one as well, again they didn't have a supplier

So I took a Beef N Bleu and they gave me that plus told me to keep the salad ....so that was good customer service

Went back upstairs to OH and we finally ate our sandwiches. Mine was more mayonnaise than Blue cheese but I decided to forget it as I didn't want to go again

On the way out I got one of these to go

and it was Even nicer than the one I'd eaten in the park on Tuesday

Conclusion

The salad was fresh and the piece of chicken we tried dipped in the soy ginger dressing was tasty but it was not a large salad, the ones in McDo are as large with more chicken.
They are having problems with sourcing suppliers and staff communication but seeing that this is France and they have just opened I'm giving them the benefit of doubt and will trying ordering another one in a month or so.

Their customer service/satisfaction is very good and important to them.

OH's sandwich was very good and the cookie alone will make me go back next week and get another one before going into the park

We ate here on Wednesday 22nd June 2011. I ordered the Earl's Club and Tascha ordered the All American. We then both ordered cokes from the soda fountain which we collected with our sandwiches. We both picked up a packet of crisps each aswell. The total came to €20 for both of us so pretty good.

We both really enjoyed our sandwiches and would definelty eat there again

We had breakfast here Wednesday, ham egg and cheddar. It was really hot, the hottest food we ate in DLP but it was small and the bread was burnt and rock hard. There was only one other customer in there and as I was taking a photo of it (will add it later) he started moaning to me about how its not worth taking a photo of as it was disgusting lol

It wasn't worth the money and wish I hadn't bothered but it may of just been an off day.

We ate here on Monday 25 July 2011 after our drive from the Eurotunnel. We were all hungry.

DH and I both had the Traditional which is roast beef and cheese. Lewis had a kids Pizza burger and Mark had the hawaiian bbq. We had 3 cokes, a fruit water and Abbey had a cookie. With 10% shareholders discount total bill was 31E.

The food was delicious. Even DH, who can be very fussy, said it was lovely and that really we could have shared a sandwich as it was very filling.

I really liked the decor and the seating upstairs and outside too. It wasn't too busy and was nice and clean.

All in, a very good lunch option. We will be back

Went here in Dec 2011 a few times. It was fab and value for money.
Can not wait to go back in August.

We ate here for lunch on Monday 7th May 2012 at approx 2pm

The queue was short and we placed our order quickly. A small buzzer is given to you as you then queue to pay and help yourself to any drinks you've purchased. The buzzer went off within a few minutes and our meal was ready!

DH and I had the traditional - roast beef and melted cheese, lovely

Lewis had the kids meal deal, included a pizza sandwich, Capri sun drink and fresh fruit salad

Abbey had a couple of chocolate chip cookies

The sandwiches are really filling and piping hot. Love this place and wish they'd have one in each park too

Hi,

I ate at EOS last Sunday and had the original 1762. It was ok, but I much preferred the All American sandwich I had there last time. The taste of the original was ok, but I had some chewy bits of meat in the sandwich. Next time it's the All American again for me which was delicious, or the Carribean chicken which my wife had and was also tasty

Wraps and salads have increased in price to 6,50€ ...that's a 20% price increase

Sandwiches are priced as before (5,50€) for the moment...

Next time I'll be going to Nourra at Val d'Europe and just having coffee at EoS

There is now a meal deal in place

a sandwich, packet of crisps and a drink from the soda fountain or a vittel for 9,50€

not great as it's only a 50-60cts saving depending what drink you take and there isn't a wrap/salad or dessert option
