well we leave sunday the 8 /22 for 4 day land and start our 3 day sea on the 8/26 . wonder where Earl will be ? do they shut down orlando airport often?

We live in Myrtle Beach and after the havoc of Mr. Charley yesterday - if you can determine where Earl will be let me know. Sadly these storms aren't that easy to predict...

I'm crossing my fingers though that your cruise will be storm free and easy sailing:wave:

MB MinnieGirl ==> My best friend lives in Murrells Inlet and I tried calling her to check up but haven't heard back from her. Can you tell me how you all did down there? I'm very worried.

Thanks!
Mel

Everyone is out and about today - although we were graced with more down pours off and on all day :umbrella: :rolleyes:

The evacuation was from Hwy 17 to the Ocean which basically covers the first 4 block off the ocean - although in Murrells Inlet that is a little different - perhaps your friend hasn't returned home yet. They did lift the evacuation yesterday evening and people began to ruturn. LOTS of people are still without electricty...they hope to have all power restored by tomorrow. That may be why you're not reaching your friend. Do not worry for the worst though - we had 0 deaths and no real injuries have been reported - we were truly blessed! We did have a lot of damage. Personally we have a tree down on our deck, we lost a screen door on the deck also, and have a pretty major leak that did cause us to loose some furniture - the important thing is we are ok. I will say personally - it was a lot worse than what we were anticipating :scared1:

I will send pixie dust and prayers for your friends - but try not to worry too much - it's a mess and phone lines are off and on busy at the time....

::yes::

I am so sorry to hear of the damage you had. I hope you're able to recover quickly and painlessly from it.
I will be patient with my friend and not try calling her again until tomorrow. That should give her some time to get settled.

She works at Brookgreene Gardens, have you ever been there? It is absolutely gorgeous there. I hope they did okay with their animals.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! :)

Thank you so much!! We will be ok - I'm hoping to get the tree and the leak taken care of tomorrow :rolleyes:

I'm sure your friend is ok. Just now I had a call from my best friend in Ohio who said she was scared to death because she tried to call all day yesterday and today and couldn't get us....so you're not alone ;)

Brookgreen is BEAUTIFUL! I was wondering about the damage there and at our zoo as well....I would imagine the Lions, Tiggers, and Bears were a bit freaked ::yes::

And you're so welcome for the response - I know it's touch when you are worried about somebody you care about. Hope you get through to her tomorrow.:wave:

From the current forecast on the Tropical Prediction Center site it looks like Earl will be in the Western Gulf and shouldn't impact the Wonder cruises at all.

In fact, the 11pm advisory says that Earl is "poorly defined" and there's a possibility that it may weaken...or it may strengthen...They're waiting till tomorrow and a reconisance flight to see what it does.
