Eagle Scout Ceremony

HELP!!!

We have been invited to an Eagle Scout Court of Honor TONIGHT (we received the invite last week, but forgot about it ) for our friend's son. The ceremony is to be held at our local town hall with no mention of a reception of any kind (not that that is relevant).

I know someone can tell me what to expect (as far as the ceremony goes ... speeches? length of time, etc.) but I also need help with a gift. While I know that the 'Scout' in them doesn't expect a gift, what does the 'kid' in them prefer? A gift card (to where?) or cash? And is it comparable to a HS graduation gift? or more like a birthday gift?

My brain is all tapped out this year ... 3 wedding & 2 baby showers, 3 weddings (one out of town), 4 immediate family birthdays, 25th anniversary party, 3 graduation parties ... all since the end of April! (and there is more coming through out the end of the year)

I've been to a couple Eagle Scout Ceremonies. DH is an Asst Scoutmaster
and has had a couple kids make Eagle, and last year my nephew made Eagle also. From what I can remember, the ceremony is performed by the Scoutmaster and other troop members. Usually the Eagle Scouts parents
get a pin also. Speeches are short; Scoutmaster, possibly Mayor of town,
parents of Eagle. I'd say the whole thing would be an hour max. The ones
I've been to, the parents and troop leaders will get a cake and some punch and that's it for a reception after. Gift: I'd say more like a birthday gift for
amount, cash, gift card or if you're anywhere near Boy Scout Council they
have Eagle appropriate gifts. Hope I helped!

yeah, our nephew made eagle scout last year. it was short and sweet... we just handed him a card w/some $ and congratulated him.

Our nephew just recieved his Eagle Scout award and it was pretty much the same as allis'mom described. Since he is going to Philmont this summer his grandmother's gave him cash. We gave him a beautiful acrylic blanket with a picture of an eagle soaring over a mountain range. He liked it and plans to take it to his college dorm in the fall.
