In the Park's early years, families paid a low admission to get in but had to ticket books of tickets to use at each individual ride. Swiss Family Tree house would cost you one A ticket and Space Mountain would cost you one E ticket. Eventually the family would run out of E tickets and you would get stuck riding the lower level rides.

E ticket is now used to describe the better rides which once required and E ticket to ride.
