e-ride?

Unfortunately E-ride nights do not exist anymore. They were GREAT! You had to buy tix, and there were only so many sold. The Park was empty, it was like having the whole place to yourself. I wish they would bring it back.

Yes, I completely agree with you there! I loved e-ride night and would gladly fork over the extra $$ to do it! :thumbsup2

E-ride
Adjective. Used to describe something that's over the top in terms of excitement; an exhilarating experience.

Origin: Archaic, dating back to the '50s. From Disneyland's old system of ticket-books. The A-D Tickets were for the okay rides. An E-Ticket was your ticket to the best rides, E-rides, i.e., the Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.

Jeez!!! Driving home with Jacob after the party was an E-ride.

Snowy: love your response.

I don't care much for EMH, not much magic any time I was ever there. I loved the E-nights too.

I still have "A" tickets that went unused. The concept was good at the time, but clearly a way to get more money out of those that didn't have the small kids (which we didn't at the time). I still frequently say in a casual converstation "now that is an E ride!".

E-ride nights never existed. They were called E-Nights. Granted, the point was to find shorter lines at the e-rides, but the definition refers to the rides themselves, not an event, as Snowy pointed out.

OK, so let me get this strait:

e-ride - term used to refer to the actual ride itself

e-night - term used to refer to the nights, which no longer exists, in which a limited number of resort guests could purchase for an extra price, a pass to stay within the park after regular hours to partake in said e-rides with what would be a presumably shorter wait time

Lol...don't you just hate technicalities. Either way, I really do miss these nights that no longer exists that were replaced by the EMH. :)

To further the confusion, they were actually, at various points in time and on various websites, referred to as:

E-nights
E-Ticket nights
E-Ride nights
E-Ticket Ride nights

But they all meant the same thing as listed on my link above!!

E-ticket, E-ticket ride, and E ride all refer to the old Disney way of ticketing. Instead of paying one price for everything you got into the park and then bought coupon books with A,B,C,D and E coupons (labeled coupons, but more commonly called tickets). E Tickets were used for the best rides.

Even when Disney did away with the old coupon system "E-Ticket ride" and "E-ride" were (and still are) used to refer to great rides, experiences, entertainment, and other such stuff. Even outside of Disney it is used by others in the entertainment and amusement industry occasionally, and also by some of us Disney nuts.

E-Ride night was an old perk Disney used to offer guests. For an extra price you got what is given for free as EMH to resort guests, except it was more refined and less crowded.

HTH

So I think we're all clear that any sort of e-ride, e-night, etc...does not exist anymore. Ive gotten that far, but what is the extra magic hours at night? Do you have to pay extra? Is it just for WDW resort guests? How do you get into extra magic hours??

EMH = Extra Magic Hours = One of the 4 theme parks is open to only Disney Resort guests for 3 hours after the park closes to the general public. Different parks have different days of the week, they are basicly the same as EMH Mornings, except wrist bands are given to the resort guests at different locations throughout the park (I think they start handing out wristbands 2 hours before close) and the locations to get the wrist bands are very easy to spot. Also, more attractions are left open for Evening EMH than Morning.

Yes, it's free, for resort guests.

I think the MK's Halloween and Christmas parties are much like the old E-ride nights. For those two events only a certain number of tickets are sold, so the number of guests in the park is limited to the amount of tickets that are sold for the event.
