E Bay Item

It's really hard to say once you've spent some time looking though all the awesome DISigns on here, but one came to mind who I recall doing this kind of hting, if you want to check it out and that was Dom13

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2033358

I have not checked through all the pictures so I don't know. I really do not want to believe that someone would actually try and sell someone else's work so let's just hope it is just someone with a similar style to one of our designers.

Isn't it illegal even if it is this person's own design? Without copyright permission it is my understanding that it is illegal to sell Disney images. That is why the generous designers on the Dis donate their time and creativity.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have no idea. But if that is the case, I seriously doubt any of our Disigners would breach the rules. I just automatically assumed that IF it belonged to one of ours, it had been nicked from a folder and used without their knowledge. Of course it could well have nothing to do with the DIS at all.

My concern was that someone was using the designs taken from someone on the DIS without permission. I just hate to see that happen.

I knew that when I read your post. I feel the same way which is why I jumped on board so quickly. :goodvibes

MNTwinsmom, You are right it is illegal to profit from Disney images (and any other trademarked images) unless you pay for the commercial right to use the image, which can be very expensive. Most of the items that you see with Disney images and other movie and television images on Ebay and Itsy are being sold illegally. They may not get caught but it isn't worth doing something illegal not to mention the tens of thousands of dollar fines that they could be receive if Disney trademark lawyers pursue them in court. That is why the DISigners on the Boards do everything for free.

Natalie is a good example of how to profit and not illegally sell images. She has her own website now for scrapbooking, but if you notice she only sells the parts of the scrapbook pages and elements that don't have disney images on them. The actually Disney images she gives away for free.

Hope that answers your questions.

Lizavance, Thanks for letting us know and pointing out the picture. I personally and other DISigners like Natalie and Amy have had their images stolen and sold on ebay and itsy. Thanks to wonderful DISers like you is generally how we find out. By letting us know we can contact them and have them remove our images.

Thank you for all that info Dolly. It is good to know exactly how it works. I assumed it was illegal to sell Disney images due to copyright and most DISigners have something in their signature regarding using images for profit or gain. TBH, I only jumped on this thread out of indignation that someone would do something to hurt one of our own - especially after all the hard work and help you all give to us. Not the way I will stand by and watch wonderful and talented people being treated. :grouphug:

I am so grateful for how generously you and the other designers share your talents and it just irks me that someone would steal from you. I will keep a watchful eye out while I am merrily surfing and shopping.
