I have already booked and paid for this Sept trip for some time now. I have not told my DS and DD yet. Was going to surprise them the day of! Especially my son. One of his school friends is joining us! Her father almost slipped several times. pirate:

Can't wait to see the look on there faces.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO, this is the kind of suprise that I love. I'm excited for you and your kids.

My SO and I are taking my 3 kids in May and dont plan on telling them until the night before we leave(still working on how to do this). We are staying at the airport hotel the night before, so it should be very exciting. Cant wait to see the looks on their faces....dont tell them until you originally plan to. It will be so much fun for all of you. Is there going to be someone who can film or take pics of their reactions? Have a wonderful time. I am excited for you :cool1:

Me too! We'll be there in 32 days and 6 hours and my kids do not know! :thumbsup2 Not sure how much longer I can keep it a secret! We plan on telling them 2 weeks before we leave and have all kinds of things planned for the announcement!

Best of luck keeping it a secret!

lol my parents did this for me, but told me a week before we went, good thing to as i had made plans those weeks and it gave me time to cancel! Dependant on their age and how much you know about their goings on this will be what makes this idea great! your a good parent :thumbsup2

:ssst:
We're keeping it a secret too! But, so far it has been easier because they don't expect that we would be going twice in one year!

I can't wait to see their faces!

Keep quiet about it at any cost!

We surprised our DS by picking him up at school in a limo in March to go to USO. We told him that we were going for his birthday to NY. He regaled us in the car with stories about all that he was going to do and see in NYC. When we passed the city, he asked why we weren't in the middle of all of those buildings. We told him that we said we were going to NY, not NYC. When we approached JFK, he got excited that we were going on a plane. We told him that we were not flying anywhere from this airport. (We were going out of LGA.)

At the airport, he found out that we were going to Orlando. WDW and USO never hit his radar. He was convinced we were going on a cruise. When Bob from Sunray picked us up, he had a sign, not with our last name on it, but with a happy birthday wish for our DS.

DS offered Bob $100 to confirm where we were going, but I reminded him that he didn't have $100 so he couldn't make that kind of offer. We stopped at a grocery because "the drinks on board ship are very expensive." ;)

He honestly didn't know until we got to PBH at UO that we were going to be riding the Hulk the next day.

This was a surprise that he will remember forever and worth every amount of me holding back from telling him before it happened.

What you are doing is so nice for your kids. We are going sep 25-30 but my kids know. I love talking about it. We go on the web site and look at all of the rides. My kids would ask daily when are we going. How I solved this problem was by. cutting out a lot of disney pictures from a travel book and then attatching a paper chain. my kids helpped me make the chain and we cut one off every day till the trip. Have fun.

We are leaving Sat. morning and flying in. My kids don't know yet either. I hope we can wait until we get to the resort, but not sure if the airport or ME bus will give us away! SO exciited!!

Hey you took my idea... LOL. Not sure on how we can pack without telling them why though! Any ideas?

We are going the end of Sept to be there for the "not so scary halloween"...

That's so great!! We did it in May - picked ds up from school - told him we had to drive grammy to pick up her car (she was in the van with us as she was going to drive it home from the airport) and when we got him to the van I turned on the video camera and gave him a book I made with our whole itinerary. He was completely taken by surprise, as was dd (5) who started crying she was so excited!! He still says it was the best surprise ever!

Now, dd says every time we go for a long ride she wonders if we're really going to the airport....

Except our trip isn't until December!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the wait and the secret are both making me crazy!!!

But after hearing all the wonderful surprises I know the wait will be well worth it.

We actually have told them that if they start saving money together-we have 3 DS and 1 DD and they have started saving cans for recycling and change in a giant water jug!! My oldest son mowed and cleaned up his grandpa's yard and made $20-I was shocked that he dropped the bill in the jug!! He said mom "I really want to go to WDW!"

I know that this surprise will be the best ever!! :cool1:

Hope you have a magical trip!! :wizard:

I plan on doing the same thing when the time comes ... I haven't even booked yet.
I thought I'd pack everything & wake her & we'd go....still trying to figure out how to leave behind DS tho ... he's only 2 & he'd be tired & cranky, it's best to leave him behind with DH who's also tired & cranky. Leave before he wakes or give him kisses then leave...not sure the best course.

How old is your son that you're bringing his pal along? I was 16 before my fam did that for me but I figure when my DD hits pre-teen status we'll have to do that for hers & our sanity! ;)

Sending some keeping the secret vibes to you ... :goodvibes

we start the drive from Texas 9/29 for our first family trip to WDW and to celebrate both of their birthdays and our anniversary (see siggie). Husband and I have planned everything and plan on telling them with a treasure hunt the 17th. Grandparents are coming over to 'have dinner' then see the surprise.

now, to think of how I want it to work. I had tshirts made from the disney store that says 'HBday.., first family trip..october 06' and plan on burying them in a treasure trunk (one for each boy) along with various things for the trip.

Thinking of the clues now...boys are 7 & 4. Ideas welcome to bring smiles to their faces!

Cannot wait...only 39 more days!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We are surprising our 2 grandkids SOON!
I have written scavenger hunt clues..including one from Jack Sparrow! The clues will lead them to sunglasses, a disposable camera, a beach towel, a toy car and a toy airplane. Then they are directed to lay out items on the floor and try to figure it out. If they can't- one last clue tells them to look in my sunroom where their Disney carry-on bags are...with t-shirts that say " I'm going to Walt Disney World! September 2006" We are telling them Friday Sept. 15th that we are leaving Sunday Sept.17th. That gives them one full day and 2 nights anticipation! I can't wait to see their faces!!!

Aww! Thats such a great suprise!! Oh my gosh!! I'd Love that! What you should do is put them into the car in the middle of the night, and go then, so when they wake up, there almost in Wdw!!!

We are also planning on surprising our kids... I say "surprising" though because any day now I am probably going to burst and tell them! I'm trying really hard not to tell the kids, but any adult I see I tell because I just can't help myself, so at this point all of our family, friends and kids friends parents all know we are taking them (DD8, DSalmost 7) at the end of Sept. I'm hoping to make it to the night before the trip and then tell them.

Our ME luggage tags came in the mail yesterday and I almost opened them in front of the kids because I was so excited to see the envelope, luckily DH stopped me!

The last time we took the kids out of school (to go to WDW in May 2005) we told them ahead of time and got school work to take with us, so they wouldn't be too far behing, I''d like to do that this time too, but then I'm afraid the kids would find out. Ugh, not sure what to do... I need to let the schools know, but I'm afraid they'll mess up the suprise.

I envey all of you, I told my kids right off, I have a big mouth, I was just to exited to keep in all to myself. but now I wish I kept it a surprise as well. Its okay though we are having just as much planning and good luck keeping your secrets.I sure know I couldn't :rotfl:

Have fun!!!
