dyeing crinoline...

has anyone done this? i think i saw it somewhere in someone's pj...i think i might want to dye the one i got from david's, but it's making me nervous...how is this task accomplished???

I'm going to hang out here too caryn to see what comes up. I would love to know the answer to that question as well. My dress is going to be cafe' colored and I'm using pink as an accent color. I would love for my crinoline to be pink.

BTW Caryn, your PJ is really good. I'm starting mine after my site visit...I scheduled out appointment with Bill for Friday November 16th.

you're very kind! thanks! i haven't decided if i'm going to dye mine or not, my mother is totally against it, my dress is light gold and my sisters dresses are truffle, i was thinking of dyeing it the truffle color, but i'm worried that it'll show through...i'll let you know what i decide...

I dyed my crinoline blue... I used the Knot bio and some other sources online before I did it. It wasn't difficult at all and didn't stain my washer (bonus!). You do have to stand by the washer and reset the wash cycle over and over because the dye has to be on the crinoline for 30 minutes.

I have pictures in my PJ, too. The silky part of the crinoline will be much lighter than the under part because the RIT dye (maybe all dye?) doesn't *really* work on polyester. I love my blue crinoline!

I own 3 crinolines and 1 hoop skirt, which is what gave me the courage to dye mine! They were all eBay purchases and I figured I could buy another if I hated it! Two will be back up on eBay soon.
