OK, so we are already booked and paid for. We are going on a DDP Free Dining Pin to CSR for three nights.

Gives us 3 TS, 3 QS and 3 S. Sounds good, actually sounds perfect ...... for 3 days.

The thing is we are actually going to be there for 4 days and 3 nights. We arrive at 8am to check-in (I know the room wont be ready, but we'll be there none the less need the KTTW cards and all that).

So here is the game plan dining wise:

Day 1 (08:00AM - 01:30AM. DHS & MK)
  • 9:00 AM - BOMA buffet Breakfast
  • 2:00 PM - Lunch at a QS restaurant
  • 9:00 PM or so - Dinner in MK. QS? Snack?
  • SNACKS. Maybe instead of QS @ MK, possible during the day.
Day 2 (09:00AM - 09:00PM. DAK & DTD & CSR)
  • 10:10 AM - Tusker House Breakfast/Brunch
  • 3:00 PM - Raglan Road - Late Lunch/Early Dinner
  • 7:00 PM - Dinner back at CSR. Pepper Market? Snacks?
  • SNACKS. Through out the day.
Day 3 (9:00AM - 9:00PM. Epcot FW/WS)
  • 8:00 AM - CSR breakfast/snacks
  • 12:50 PM - Teppan Edo Lunch
  • 7:05 PM - Le Cellier Dinner
  • SNACKS. Breakfast/Mid Morning.
Day 4 (7:30AM - 4:15PM. MK)
  • 8:20 AM - Crystal Palace Breakfast Buffet
  • 1:00 PM - Casey's QS Lunch
  • SNACKS. Throughout the afternoon, and whatever's left to throw in the car.

The upgrade to DxDP seems to be the logical choice in this scenario. Thoughts?

You'd have to do the math. And are you going at a time when Les Cellier will be 1 credit or 2 credits?

Seems you are looking for about 10 meals credits, and in that sense, event eh DxDP may not be worth it.
But on the other hand, except for Les Cellier, you don't have a ton of expensive meals listed.
For example, Crystal Palace breakfast is only about $21. Lunch at Raglan Road can easily be under $20. Tusker House breakfast is only about $21

So you need to figure out whether it would be cheaper to just use your credits for your more expensive meals, and then pay OOP for your cheaper meals.

On the other hand, if you want to upgrade a couple of those QS meals into expensive TS meals, then it could easily be worthwhile.

Thanks for the inisghts... I'll do the math more specifically. I had only used rough numbers prior.

As for Le Cellier - we are going in November this year .. I should have mentioned it already.

Looks like we could save about $40 by NOT going with DxDP.

Help me out here, am I missing something?

Day 1 (08:00AM - 01:30AM. DHS & MK)
  • 9:00 AM - BOMA buffet Breakfast 3TS
  • 2:00 PM - Lunch - use snack credits or QS 2S or 2QS
  • 9:00 PM or so - Dinner in MK. QS? Snack? 2S or 2QS
  • SNACKS. Maybe instead of QS @ MK, possible during the day.
Day 2 (09:00AM - 09:00PM. DAK & DTD & CSR)
  • 10:10 AM - Tusker House Breakfast/Brunch OOP
  • 3:00 PM - Raglan Road - Late Lunch/Early Dinner OOP
  • 7:00 PM - Dinner back at CSR. Pepper Market? Snacks?2S or 2QS
  • SNACKS. Through out the day.
Day 3 (9:00AM - 9:00PM. Epcot FW/WS)
  • 8:00 AM - CSR breakfast/snacks 2S or 2QS
  • 12:50 PM - Teppan Edo Lunch 3TS
  • 7:05 PM - Le Cellier Dinner 3TS
  • SNACKS. Breakfast/Mid Morning.
Day 4 (7:30AM - 4:15PM. MK)
  • 8:20 AM - Crystal Palace Breakfast Buffet OOP
  • 1:00 PM - Casey's QS Lunch 3QS

TS = 9
QS = 3 absolute (OOP for extras)
QS/Snacks = 8 shared between them.

Man this can get ugly. The only issue I find with doing it this way is having to remember where I stand at each meal, and ask "So do we have the credits for this, or should we use cash, or should we maybe only get a meal to split...or share a couple of snacks between us."

In all honesty, we are there for:

4 breakfasts
4 lunches
4 dinners

Plus snacks in between. The DxDP actually only provides us with 9 meal credits each so we are going to use snacks in any case to fill up the other 3 meals. Then have snacks on top of that.

Yes, DxDP is a lot of food. Could we save a few bucks - possibly. I guess I have to figure out if the $40 or so dollars extra that I may or may not spend is worth the convience of not having to think about the meals and managing credits while there.

Am I going crazy..... :dance3: I think so. LOL

Remember with DxDP you get 2 snacks per person per night plus the refillable mug in making your calculations.

True and the DW is really looking forward to me going and grabbing her some coffee each and every morning on my morning Jogs. :cool1:

Other than that .. I'm not sure we could use all the snack credits we'd get, but that's where "Road food" comes from. LOL

Personally, I find the refillable mug next to worthless. I know it's quite valuable for many people, but we don't tend to use them. With 3 meal beverages plus 2 snacks per day, how often do we really fill up on extra soft drinks while at the resort?

While I'm not a big proponent of the DDP, I do think the upgrade from free dining to DxDP can be worthwhile for many people. For an extra $30 per day, you can really increase your flexibility, your quality and/or your quantity of food.

But if you're using most of the extra credits for QS meals or cheaper TS meals, then not necessarily worthwhile.

Over 3 nights... 9 deluxe credits, it would probably be well worth upgrading if you were using at least 5-6 credits for higher end TS restaurants. (restaurants where you get $35+ of value per credit). But in the case of the OP, it appears there are really only 2 semi-expensive TS restaurants on the whole list. (Tappan Edo and Les Cellier).

Here are some additional things to consider:

It looks like you'll be there around Thanksgiving so before you upgrade, you should see what TS reservations are still available.

Financially you're already paying rack rate for your room. Upgrading to DxDDP will cost an additional $30 per adult per night so you definitely want to have more TS meals than QS to make it worthwhile.

The DxDDP includes a lot of food. Each credit includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. Plus 2 snacks per person each day. Will you realistically want 3 big meals every day.

Also,I see that there are 3 of you - is the third person a child or an adult? TS meals take longer than QS so if you have a child in your group, will your child mind sitting in a restaurant rather than be on a ride?

For that matter, how much time will you want to dedicate to dining? Between checking in, getting seated, eating and settling the bill figure 60 -90 minutes per meal. And depending on where you eat, there is travel time to also add on.

Good luck with your planning.

Thanks for the thinking points.

There is a child .. my DS (10). Don't let the age fool you, he thouroughly enjoys his meals. Not to say that he is an unhealthy child, jus that he is a solid child. He is an offensive linemen, and a nose guard in football. Along with this he has a very keen interest in food and cooking and enjoys how foods are prepared. It's really quite facinating.

As for ADRs - I should have mentioned ... everything that is noted above is already booked. Our dining reservations actually were made to fit our park touring days, not vice versa so travel time isn't really that much of an issue.

Still up in the air about it all. I can understand that there is a lot of food, but remember just because you can get an appetizer and dessert, doesn't mean that everyone in you party has to.

We are looking at this as more of a convience factor at this point to be honest with y'all. But I guess I am just looking to see if what I have laid out as a dining options works well with the DxDDP?

Although we are there only 3 nights.... we are there 4 full days. In theory I guess that would amount to 12 meals plus snacks if we were at home.
