DxDP appetizer question

I'm sure this has been asked before but I tried searching and couldn't come up with posts that answered my question.

With the DxDP, if you order a "for two" appetizer does it count as mine and my husbands appetizers, between the two of us we'd just get that one appetizer.

I only ask because I was looking at the 50's PT menu and the onion rings for 2 is $7.99 and the crab cake (for one person) is $8.49, so in that one place I don't think the app for two is a cost issue. I want to try the onion rings and would gladly share them with my husband and son but I know hubby is going to want to order his own appetizer and I am not paying for anything extra out of pocket when we already paid for a dining plan :goodvibes

I don't know the offical answer but I remember last year I was able to get a few apps that were for 2, while DH got his own. I got the onion rings at 50s and he got the crab cakes. I have heard Raglan Road won't let you get the for 2 apps even if both people agree to get it,but that is the only time I have heard that you can't get the appie for 2 for 1.

Thanks. That was another question I was wondering about. If there is an app for 2 that we want to share, can we use both our app credits and share it? I wonder if it has to do with how the DP is set up in the computers. Guess we'll just have to ask at each restaurant as we go.

Depends on the restaurant. Some will tell you that both party members have to order an appetizer for 2 for the dining plan to cover it. Some will allow one person to order an appetizer marked "for 2"

our experience has been at the restaurants owned by Disney (for example, Mama Melrose and Sci-Fi) we were each allowed to order our own appetizer even though one of the choices clearly said "for 2"...and they did not down-size the app, either (so it was way too much food. Actually, most of the "for 2" apps could easily serve 3 or 4.)

At restaurants not owned by Disney (like Via Napoli and Yak & Yeti come to mind) the "for 2" absolutely can be ordered on the dining plan, but they strictly enforce the "for 2" and that appetizer would count as both people's entitlement on the DxDP. They always explain that very carefully at the non-Disney restaurants.

Last year we ran into this when we ordered a "for 2" appetizer and we were told that we could only order one. It was fine as it was larger.

I can't remember the restaurant...the only one comming to mind is 50's Prime Time...but I can't really remember.

When we get appetizers we usually all eat from it family style...so my DD9 can share in the appetizers that we get. We even do that with our actual meals so DD9 can try some different things from the kids menus.

always had to order the 'for two' for two. Kouzzinas, Hollywood Brown Derby and Scifi being the three I remember

Sanaa lets you order for one even though they say for two with the bread service.

It may also depend on the waiter (as well as the restuarant). I know at Le Cellier sometimes we've each been allowed to get our own, but most of the time there the 'for 2' means for 2 and must be ordered by two people to share. We use the DxDDP alot and are told more often than not that items designated for two must be ordered by two people. This has happened at Yak & Yeti, Coral Reef, Nine Dragons, Marrakesh, Liberty Tree tavern (lunch), Tony's, The Wave, GF Cafe (dessert), Konas, Whispering Canyon, and Raglan Road. I don't think we've ever tried at 50's Prime Time though.

However, at Rose and Crown we've always been able to each get our own cheese plate and at Mama Melrose we've each been able to get the antipasta platter and calamari.

Just ate at Prime Time 50's on Monday, we had to use two app credits for the onion rings. It worked out okay for us, because we had four on the dxdp,so we still got 3 apps. The onion rings were delish, the best app of the 3.

I do want to add that at Liberty Tree Tavern we were able to get the Spinach and Crab dip for 2 with one app credit. Not sure if the difference is the server or the restaurant.

Does anyone know about the Cobb Salad at Brown Derby?

I would love to have that but I know I'll be out of luck if it's truly a for 2 only because DH and DS will want something else.

We just got back on Wednesday. DH ordered the onion rings at 50s and wasn't made to 'share' them. Also, we did Raglan Road for dinner and were allowed to share the 'for 2' appetizers.

I had this on my last trip and my DH had his own appetizer. It only counts as one. This is really big, so I am surprised it is only one appetizer credit. Be prepared to be full before your entree ever arrives, but it is so good! I enjoyed this more than my entree here.

I am using the DxDP for the first time this trip and after reading the posts on this thread I am confused? :confused3

I understood that on the DxDP you have TS credits which include for lunch and dinner *App Entree Dessert & Beverage.

Some here have said they ordered the App for two but only used 1 App credit ???????? If two persons are dining for lunch or dinner they will be using 2 TS credits which include the above mentioned details*

How are you figureing you only used 1 Credit? Or do you mean each person can use the App Credit portion of their TS credit for a 2 pp App?

DH and I normally share an App he eating the greater portion , 2- 2person Apps seem like way too much food

What people here are saying is precisely that - in some restaurants they were allowed to order a 2 pp app with their 1 meal credit (plus entree and dessert). However, you don't have to order an app per person. On a few occasions I did not order an app or a dessert and DH ordered an app for 1 person. I also rarely got a beverage at TS. We still had plenty of food and still came out ahead over what we paid for the DxDP. HTH!

Thanks for clarifying it for me
