DxDDP appetizer ??

We are getting the DxDDP for the first time next year and we will be 2 adults and 2 children age 9 at time of travel. I am getting the kids DxDDP since my kids don't eat alot but I was wondering would they get a appetizer? And if not can we use one of ours to give to them if we wanted too?

You can share your apps with the table. Some of the kids menus offer apps like a salad or carrots. Not regular apps.

My littles did this and it worked very well. They sometimes ordered off of the adult menu and they were able to order an adult appetizer, which we enjoyed. They at he bulk of their meals and enjoyed their adult" desserts. At one restaurant they did not want the adult appetizers o they were offered a larger serving of cheese and grapes. Perfect!

I was not aware that a 9 year old can order off the adult menu on the DxDDP. Does this take away from one of the adult's credits, or can the child use their own credit for an adult meal?

There are no pools on the deluxe plan. The server is supposed to enforce the published restriction that children must order off the children's menu. Some blogs have claimed this restriction is no longer enforced, despite the fact that the restriction was again published (and republished) after that claim was made.

I do not believe th servers are enforcing this but I am not at all sure. WE asked twice and when the kids really wanted an adult entree, and it was not even a discussion.

Been a long time since I did it... But I found they enforced it in the Disney owned restaurants. In the non-Disney owned (Via Napoli), they actually brought out the adult portion instead of the kids meal -- I think they intentionally pushed it up to an adult meal to get a bigger reimbursement from Disney.

There were some changes in how Disney was enforcing DDP rules in the Spring. I think tha individual restaurants are making choices in terms of how strict they are.
