We'll be at one the DLR hotels w/ concierge service/ rooms (hopefully the Grand, if we're lucky), and I'd like to do something romantic for my DW as a kind of thank-you to her for all the great years we've had (before-- and now w/ -- the kids) together. She's never been to DL before, and I haven't been there in decades.

From your experience, what could I do back at the room after the kids have gone to sleep (okay, other than the obvious) that might work? All I can think of so far is to order up a nice bottle of champagne and sit out on the balcony together to enjoy the view (trite?).

What do you recommend (short of bringing anything that she-- and airport security-- would spot in the suitcase too easily/ unromantically)? The kids are too young, unfortunately, to get into the Pinochio's Workshop, so I feel like I'm running short of late(r)-night ideas/ alternatives.

Thanks for any help! :p pirate:

Personally, sharing a bottle of champagne with my DH sounds wonderful while enjoying the beautiful view of Disney. Don't forget to order chocolate covered strawberries from VP to go along with the champagne.

how about drawing a bath for her? my dh did that for me once, and he put in some bubble bath (my favorite!), and threw in some rose petals (picked them right from the garden...thought that was sweet!) and rubbed my back/neck & we just sat (me in the tub) & talked...he also gave me a foot massage of sorts. it would be a nice relaxing thing to do for her after a day of playing at the park. :flower:

Give Vacation Planning a call.

They have lots of options:
baskets
special treats (cookies with your name on them, rice krispie ears, tuxedo strawberries)
signed pictures of characters (*free*)
balloons
flowers
cake

They have a romantic turn down service- rose petals strewn across the bed.

I haven't personally done any of these but read about them on another disney fan site, someone posted pics of the turn down and treats-- very nicely done!

Tell them what budget you would like and they can help you set it all up.

If the budget allows....
Maybe a massage at the Grand's spa.

You could get a pretty bracelet with the birthstones of everyone in your family (yours, hers, and your kids) and slip it over the bottle of champagne, and have the bottle chilling in ice out on the balcony with the glasses and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Or you could "shoot the moon" and buy her a DVC membership... :teeth:

Vacation planning is great...........they will e-mail lists of what is available ....and no pressure at all! Let us know what you choose! You have a very lucky wife!

Thanks, everybody. I'll look into the VP options, and I'm sure she'd like the choc. strawberries, birthstone bracelet (how'd I know someone would suggest jewelry? :p ) and bath/ spa ideas, too.

--Don't know about the whole foot-massage idea, though. After a full day or two in the park, the odor might kill me! lol :faint: :duck:

Please keep the ideas coming in if you haven't posted any yet (or if you've thought of something new in the meantime). ;)

Thanks again!

If you have small kids, she may enjoy a few hours to her self. Take the kids and let her do what she wants for a few hours, that is a great treat. :Pinkbounc
