DW to DL ticket exchange question

I know that DL will let you exchange remaining days left on a parkhopper or MYW ticket on a day per day basis. Parkhopper gets DL/CA hopper ticket. If it is single park then i can pick which park.

My question is has anyone ever exchanged a day and then turned around and upgraded your DL pass for say a 2 or 3 day ticket by paying the difference?

I have a one day one park pass (purchase value $70something) for DW and when we go to DL next year i wanted to use them to upgrade to a 2 or 3 day DL hopper pass.

I have not, but I "think" the value on on exchanged ticket doesn't show you the amount it is worth from WDW just the number of days when they transfer it over to DL. (not worth a dollar amount) I'd be very curious though the real answer, this is just a guess.
