Dvr?

Digital Video Recorder....same as TIVO, except DVR's are what the cable/satellite companies call their recording cable boxes.

I love my DVR and can no longer live without it.:lmao:

My DW was dead set against getting it with our cable package.....now she is a recording addict :thumbsup2

Don't ask questions. Just get it.

Seriously, it's just a better way to watch TV. If there's a show that you like to watch you set your DVR once and it will record the entire season for you. You can of course set things to tape once as well. If you get a dual tuner, you can tape two things at once. You can also watch recorded tv while recording live tv. I always start watching my shows 15-20 minutes after they start and just fast forward through all the commercials. Also, I can forward through all the "junk" that I don't like. For kids shows, its's great because they can watch their shows whenever they want. Same for me to. I don't have to worry about the kids interrupting me. I can just wait until after they go to bed.

It is the best thing since sliced bread. Actually, it's better than sliced bread. You'll never watch TV the same again.

We do the same thing!! :lmao: I also record all the Disney movies for my DD. I have Dumbo, and Lady and the Tramp, things of that nature. Then I transfer them on to VCR tape for her to watch in her room. DVD's are a big no no with 3 year olds. For the rest of the house, I then transfer them all to DVD off the computer.

Get it! We have DVR with Dish Network and love it. Not only does it give us the usual recording capability, but it also works like TIVO where you can pause live t.v. There are serveral instances where we needed to do that b/c we didn't want to miss anything. We usually catch up by some point and then it switches back to "Live" mode. One thing with that (at least with Dish) is that you can only "pause" live t.v. for 60 minutes.

There is one disadvantage that we have found with the DVR through satelite. It does not work like the old VCR's did where you can set it up to record one show while you watch something else. You would have to go to another t.v. to watch another show if it's conflicting with the one you are recording. But other than that, we think it's great!

Our cable company DVR can record two different programs at the same time, while we're watching something it recorded earlier.

We cannot watch television without having a DVR now.
