Does anyone have one they either love or Hate??? we need one soon since my 5 year old has Tons of Disney Videos....and we want a DVD player to go with out new 32" Flat screen tv.......

The VCR just died a week ago......and the 24 year old Mitsubishi console tv........it has been an expensive few weeks.....we need both and I don't want a balancing act on the tv.......with a 5 year old running by them a lot......if you know what I mean.need just one that does both

The VCR broke recently and we got a VCR/DVD combo at BJ's for $167.00. :) We've been wanting to get a DVD but didn't see any reason to til we needed to! We have sooooo many tapes that it was really the only way to go.

I never buy combos, including TVs with VCRs or DVD players integrated, since I'm afraid that one will break and then it will look really sloppy when I replace whichever one broke. We have a DVD player and several VCRs. (When DH and I got married, we somehow ended up with more VCRs than TVs. ) The entertainment center in the living room isn't big enough for a VCR and DVD player, so we have VCRs on the upstairs TVs and watch DVDs downstairs in the living room.

I do have one as well.. the combo that is.. in our bedroom.. it seems to work fine.. sometimes I want to watch a tape and sometimes I want to watch a DVD.. this way I have the best of both worlds. :)

If you have a Blockbuster in your area you can buy a certain number week rental card you get a free DVD/VCR combo machine. Of course, it's pretty much the same as buying a machine but you get the rentals too....

We have a Samsung combo and I really like it. DD is young enough that the only tapes we have are our old ones and hand-me-downs for her. This way we can watch anything we have and I buy all her new movies in DVD. We got it at Best Buy during the holidays last year and I don't think it was terribly expensive, under $300 to be sure.

I too wouldn't recommend it...I bought a Sylvania(I know, I know) just so the kids could play video games on it and watch videos also.... the video part died right after the first year ...I paid to have it fixed and of course 40 days later it dies again...I called the company and they said ...Oh, well, sorry!)...(I think they have these things timed that they die right afer the warranty is up!)

I will not make that mistake again!

I just bought a Pioneer DVD/VCR combo this weekend and so far I love it.

We were shopping for one a couple of months ago and our friends tried to talk us out of it, but we were set on buying a combo. We get to the store and we know what we want and the salesman ends up talking us out of it for the same reasons I friends stated....sometimes if one system (say DVD) breaks, the other one (VCR) won't work either. He actually talked us into buying two seperate units and it ended up saving us money in the long run.
