Looking to plan an "extra" trip for spring break next year for mid March at the 7 month mark. I know this to be a very busy time at the resort in general, but is this considered a hard time to book at 7 months like December is?

I would be looking most likely to get a one bedroom but don't want to use home resort privileges at VGF this time because I am saving some points for a trip to Aulani for summer 2018 and VGF will be a little more point-wise than I would want to spend.

Spring break can be tough, but with a 1 BR you should be okay. Best bet would be SSR, OKW or AK.

March and April, except for the Thursday through Saturday of the Star Wars Dark Side race weekend in mid-Apri, is a low to moderate DVC demand time (and that incudes the Easter weeks which are just somewhat heavier than most other spring break weeks). Much will be open in mid-March. In a 1BR at 7 months out for mid-March time in 2017, the following were open: BLT lake and theme park view, BRV, BCV, BWV pool/garden and standard view, AKV standard and savanna view, OKW, SSR, and VGF. Probably good chance that the new CCV 1BR's will also be open.

Wow OK , a lot open in 2017 - thanks for that info!

the rule of thumb for DVC for both room categories and time of year, the cheaper the points, the less availability there is. The main exceptions to the rule are lake views at Poly book faster than standard view, and holiday weekends/race weekends book up extremely fast.

I once got a standard view 1 bedroom at BWV at 7 months (combining points with a BCV member friend) for late April.

I think the hardest time is September through Marathon week in January.

I was shut out of an AKV value studio over Valentine's Day week for next year via obvious walking (longer than i was planning on doing so:rolleyes1). Haven't had an issue with that week in the past.:confused3

Alternate plan now to try & book the 2nd full week in March, which I'm being told is the busiest spring break week.

May pin my hopes on VWL instead but now committed as i booked a cruise the week beforehand.

I can only imagine how difficult it is to book thanksgiving or Xmas

From our experience the F&W festival is definitely the hardest at 7 months. For the first time this year, we went with a non-home resort at 7 months, Kidani. Even though it's big and not near a park, we barely got a villa when we called in the first minute.

We were worried about F&W and we need an accessible 1BR so I stayed with home resort OKW and
got the accessible a few days before the 7 month window opened. 1BR accessible had to be my priority for
"Jersey Week", we are getting off the Fantasy Halloween cruse on Nov 4th, 2017.
My confirmation says WC accessible with roll in shower, but it does not say near HH
so I guess there are 1BR WC accessible in all buildings ground floor.
