we are stopping at HHI for 2 nights with extended family on drive to WDW, are considering MB area for drive home, don't want to be in heart of MB, heard about Murrell's Inlet/Litchfield area specifically Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort (think this is actual name). Anyone been to it or familiar with this area ? How far drive to MB ?

Thanks for any tips, advice, etc.

The Litchfield area is beautiful and far enough away from Myrtle Beach that it isn't as touristy but close enough that you can get to MB in about 20 minutes, give or take, depending on traffic. Litchfield is quiet and more similar to HHI.

If you let me know what specifically you would like to know, I'd be glad to help.

Yes we are definitely looking for something that is more like HHI so that's how Litchfield Golf & Beach Resort became a possibility because it didn't seem all that far from MB as we'd probably want to take a drive there to check it out and the kids would of course like to do that. I know LG&B Resort is very spread out property; do you have an opinion on it and also do you recommend other resorts in MB area we should look into as well ?

Thanks for your insights :goodvibes

I live in the area so I haven't stayed at the resort itself. Although when I go to the beach, it is at Litchfield or Pawleys Island. If you are looking for a nice, quiet place to stay and a relatively uncrowded beach, Litchfield is your best bet. Pawleys is mostly house vacation rentals.

You are a short drive from Myrtle Beach and all the mini golf, water parks, dinner shows, and Broadway at the Beach. You would be able to enjoy the best of both.

I don't know how old your children are, and that would make a difference. For young children, I would stay at Litchfield and then drive to MB for whatever activities you choose. If your children are older (teens) they would probably much prefer the hustle bustle of MB, especially since it attracts so many college students travelling alone.

I would hit at least one seafood restaurant in Murrells Inlet. Back in my much younger days, I waited tables in MI and we served what was caught on the boat that day. Devine's fish house has been very good the past few times I have gone and some of the tables look out over the inlet.

ETA - Frank's in Pawleys Island is wonderful. You need reservations though. Inside is more formal, but they also serve outdoors - Frank's Outback. I think the outdoor menu is a little different.

I've stayed at Litchfield for golf trips and really enjoyed it. Nice place.

Good to know, thanks ! :goodvibes As long as we're within reasonable drive of MB so we can take a drive there late afternoon/early evening to check out the action there; sounds like Litchfield fits the bill.
