DVCers w/small children, what are your sleeping arrangements?

We usually rent a toddler bed for DD from abbf.com. However our next trip will be our first one with two kids so we had to change the plan. I think DD will sleep with us in the king and DS will go in the pack n play. Who knows I might end up on the pullout in the living room.:confused3

When DD's were 7 and 2 we had them sleep in the living room. DD7 got the queen sleeper to herself (she was on the large size) and DD2 was still able to fit in the pack and play (she was on the small size). They wanted the pack and play set up right next to the sleeper sofa, so that's what we did. It fit between the sofa and table at BCV. After they were asleep we were able to go in the kitchen and retrieve stuff and retreat to the bedroom to watch TV and plan the next day.

After that we went to a 2 bedroom. I didn't think that they would be able to sleep together. DD7 has sleep difficulties and DD2 was a kicker (I didn't even want to sleep with her!)

Recently we did stay at AKV in a 1 bedroom. DD now 11 was in the sleeper sofa and DD now 6 in the sleeper chair. They are spoiled with the 2 bedroom villas!

When we only had one little one, she would sleep between us. By the time our second one came along, we had graduated to an air mattress on the floor. That worked for awhile, but eventually they graduated to the sofa bed in the living room--however, DH didn't like that, because he woke them up when he went out to the kitchen to make coffee, so we moved to a two bedroom unit, and kept the door open so we could keep track of our kids, to make sure no one tried to leave the studio in the middle of the night. Now they're old enough that I don't need to worry(too much!) about them. If they want to leave the villa now, they are old enough that it's none of my business anymore!

Hi. My DH and I have twin daughters who are 2 and 1/2. We stayed at SSR when they were only 6 months old and we used the pac n plays that were provided and they slept as sound as can be. We set them up in our bedroom and other family stayed out in the living room on the pull out.

We did a split stay at VB and BC when they were 1 and did the same thing.

We then stayed at OKW when they were almost 2 and again we used the pac n plays provided. They slept great in them.

We are staying at BWV in April 09 and plan to use them again and at that time they will be close to 3 yrs old. If the pac n plays are too small this time we will all squeeze in the big bed : ) we do it at home.

It will all work out and you will have a great time. Not sure if it was how tired they were at the end of each day combined with the room darkening curtains...but they slept way better at WDW than they do at home. We had to wake them on many mornings just to get to our breakfast ressies.

Are my kids the only kids who fight about who is sleeping where
:confused3 :confused3
My darlings are 11-8-6 Boy boy girl.
I have them take turns sleeping on the bed vs the bed on the floor. They fight over who is sleeping with my daughter! They are mean!! She can be a pest to them (shsh)
I tell them that when I was 8 or 11 if I went to Disney I would have slept on the balcony. So... they offered to do that. I actually made a sleeping chart so there are no problems at 10pm each night. You guys are lucky your kids so agreeable. Wish me luck

This was one of the funniest posts i have ever read! I was actually laughing out loud, it was so funny. :rotfl: I guess it's because I have 3 "wonderful" kids myself :scared1: (DD 6, DS 3, DS 2). Last time we were there in Aug, we stayed at our home resort, AKV, in a 1bdrm. So, we always get the bedroom, then my DD and my DS (the 3 yr old) fought over who would sleep on the pullout sofa and who would sleep on the pullout chair (my 2 yr old son still sleeps in the pack-n-play). After they had agreed to their arrangements, one of them changed their mind and wanted to switch. Of course, the other one did not want to switch, isn't that always the way with kids! Yup, their the best, can't wait till I'm taking trips with only my DH :woohoo:

Just bumping in case anyone else wants to share what they do.

I can't help think we need a 2 BR, but don't want to spend the points. Thanks!!

We have used the air mattress in the king room. You could easily set up 2 twin mattresses and still have plenty of room to walk around. We have actually done this in a GV and the 2 BR also - just to keep the LR clear of people, so the adults can relax and enjoy each other too.

We would take along portable bed rails when the kids were toddlers and usually let them sleep on the pull out sofa. That way if they found a way to roll off the bed even with the bed rails, the drop to the floor was only about a foot vs the 3 feet from the king bed.

DIsney will supply bedrails on request...it rocks. We just started sleeping DD 4 and DS 2 in the same bed. The sleep across the bed with cushions in between them.

The only thing that worries me is the door that opens to the balcony. There is one in the livingroom and also one in the bedroom. We will have to figure out a way to block the kids from being able to open the door to the balcony. At 3 and 5 they will be able to, and that is a concern. I will also speak to the CM when I book the trip and ask them for advice.

i'm not positive but fairly certain the balcony doors have child safety locks near the top of the door to protect against that exact thing. double check when you call (unless someone else on here can verify) but i think we were careful not to let the kids see us access it on our last trip.
