DH and I keep getting closer and closer to purchasing DVC, but we are curious about sleeping arrangements for a family of 4 with small children.

If you have a 1 bedroom, do you and DH sleep in the king bed and the kids in the living room? Our children are 17 months (twins) and we'll start taking them to Disney in about 1 more year.

Thanks!!

We've done different things....we started going when DS was 5 months old. At that point, we put the pack and play in the laundry room at OKW, and viola! he had his own room.

In a one bedroom, we normally start him off to sleep in the king bed, and transfer him to the sofa bed when we are ready to go to sleep.

You could also do airmattresses like a Readybed in the room.

The kids, 14 and 4, are pretty much content with the sofabed. In fact, they pretty much liked it, especially in a 1BR.

We've stayed in 1 BR at VWL the past two years with our two young children. Had adults in the bedroom and children in the LR -- one on the pullout couch and one on an air mattress that we brought. Works great.

We would take along portable bed rails when the kids were toddlers and usually let them sleep on the pull out sofa. That way if they found a way to roll off the bed even with the bed rails, the drop to the floor was only about a foot vs the 3 feet from the king bed.

We get the king!!! LOL

The kids sleep in the living room.

We usually do a studio on the weekend and 1 bedroom during the week. In both rooms the kids(now 10 and 5) sleep in the sofa bed together. They love it and never complain.

We got a 1BR and tried to put the kids (ages 2 and 4) on the sofabed....

...but we woke up every night with 2 little bodies squished :crowded: at the feet of our king-size bed!:lmao:

We have probably done ever sleeping arrangement you can thing of.
First time (in all star music suite), my 17 months old twins slept in pack and plays in the lving room.
Second trip (also all star music suite), we did one night of them both in the sofa bed, one night with me in the sofa bed (dh was sick). We even did a night with one in the bedroom with DH and one with me on the sofabed.
Our next trip to disney we stayed at one bedroom in a Hilton Vacation club (well a 2 bedroom , but FIL was in the studio part). Girls started in the sofa bed one night and wound up with us.

No clue what the sleeping arrangments will be next month 2 nights in a studion and 4 in a one bedroom.

When they were very small we had them in our bedroom, now they are in the living room or second bedroom.

Are my kids the only kids who fight about who is sleeping where
:confused3 :confused3
My darlings are 11-8-6 Boy boy girl.
I have them take turns sleeping on the bed vs the bed on the floor. They fight over who is sleeping with my daughter! They are mean!! She can be a pest to them (shsh)
I tell them that when I was 8 or 11 if I went to Disney I would have slept on the balcony. So... they offered to do that. I actually made a sleeping chart so there are no problems at 10pm each night. You guys are lucky your kids so agreeable. Wish me luck

We normally stay in a one bedroom and the kids (ages 3 and 2) stay in the king size bed (with bedrails from mousekeeping). We sleep on the pull out in the living room so we can stay up later and have access to the kitchen, can run downstairs to pick up a late night snack, etc. I know at some point, they will stay up later than we will and at that point, they will get the pull out sofa!

I didn't know that mousekeeping had bedrails!!

We are new to DVC and have completed only 2 trips. The first was a 2-bedroom with Grandma, Grandpa DH, DD2 and DS10m. Grandma and Grandpa lucked out with the King bed, while DH and I slept in the second bedroom in a Queen, DD2 in her own Queen and DS10m in a crib from mousekeeping.

The second trip was a one bedroom and I slept on pull-out couch with DD2.5 and DH slept in King (by himself) with DS1 in crib. I slept with DD becasue I was afraid she'd fall out of bed, but now I know I can request bedrails!!!!

We put our two older boys in the pullout sofa with bedrails from Mousekeeping (they are very nice!) and the youngest in the pack-n-play. The bedrails were great as they lock down onto the mattress on the couch and you can also brace them against the arm of the couch. Very sturdy, and we put the excess cushions on the floor just in case anyone tripped getting on/off the couch.

Here's a picture of the bedrail in use at SSR:

We will be staying in a one-bedroom at BWV on our first trip home in July 2010. Our boys will be 3 and 5 when we go. We plan to put them in the sofa bed in the livingroom, which opens to a queen size. DH and I will be in the bedroom on the king bed (with the whirlpool tub too!). And we will be requesting the bedrails from mousekeeping. The only thing that worries me is the door that opens to the balcony. There is one in the livingroom and also one in the bedroom. We will have to figure out a way to block the kids from being able to open the door to the balcony. At 3 and 5 they will be able to, and that is a concern. I will also speak to the CM when I book the trip and ask them for advice.

I used to sleep on the pull out couch with DD & I put DS in the master with DH, which worked out fine for me, because DH used to snore really bad. Now he has a CPAP machine & I usually sleep in the bed with DH & the kids each have their own blow up mattress for the floor. That way we kept the living room free since I tend to get up earlier & make coffee & watch TV.

Now the kids are older & they weren't happy with that last arrangement (tv kept them up, too squished, too uncomfortable) so I told them that in August I will put DD on the pull-out & DS on the living room floor with a mattress. Already DS has said, "Hey that's not fair, why does she get the bed?" but we just said, "Sorry she's the oldest & that's the way it is!" :rolleyes1 I really hope that some day all the living rooms get pull-out chairs. :wizard:

Our kids are 4 and 1.

In the 1 BR, we've done all 4 of us in the king bed, great until the kids start stretching out and take up the middle 4 feet!!! :headache:

So we've adjusted to DW and DD on the pull out, and me and DS in the king.

Except at AKV with the sleeper chair, DD loves "her own bed."

In studios, DW and DD on the sleeper and DS and I in the bed.

**Note: We are SPOILED for 1BR's since staying in one!!!!!!!

We drive so we bring along an air matress. My DS6 and Ds4 sleep on it on the floor in the bedroom. This works for us because we get a one bedroom and still have the living room to hang out in until we go to bed. It has worked great the past 4 trips. I don't know how well it will work as they get older.

We always take two twin areobeds for the boys and they fit fine on the sides of the bed (one bedroom) at BWV and SSR. They go to bed before us and I can relax and watch tv,get things ready for the morning ect. without disturbing them.
