DVCers, help me pick a moderate!

Prior to finally purchasing DVC, our preferred resort was POFQ...loved the size of the resort and luckily we never had issues with the buses, plus there is the boat transportation to DTD.

ditto! absolutely love POFQ. in fact, it's a little bittersweet that we'll now be staying at dvc resorts instead of pofq since we like it so much (i'm sure we'll get over it once we stay at BWV in sept!)

My family loves CBR! My DH and I started staying there about 20 years ago and then came back with our 2 DS's yearly until we purchased DVC about 4 years ago. In fact we delayed purchasing DVC for many years because we didn't want to give up our CBR! It's got such a laid back tropical feel to it and the main pool is so much fun. If you're getting a preferred room Trinidad North is one of the best locations as it's close to the main pool and Old Port Royal (food court). Have a great time...I know we will cause we're going back there to stay a couple of days prior to BCV this June.:cool1:

Inkmahm : this room came with something our DVC villas never have had yet- used soap in the shower!

Never a good thing......but this could happen anywhere unfortunately. A bit of an oversight on mousekeeping's part for sure.
Even with the used soap......POFQ is still my fav mod for the cozy and compact feeling and ease of getting to DD.

We stayed 2 nights at CBR this past November in a pirate room. My son LOVED it!! Even my girly-girl daughter thought it was pretty cool, which I wasn't expecting.

The pool there, as you can see in the pics, is FABULOUS. My kids spent at least 2-3 hours there both nights we stayed. And I really thought that the QS dining had a lot of variety, which was nice (even though we only needed it for a couple of days).

We had a 2 water view rooms on the corner that overlooked the pool and lake. For our December trip, we will probably stay 1-2 nights again in a pirate room (for my now-addicted son) and I was originally thinking we'd "downgrade" to a non-water view room. But, someone mentioned on the CBR thread about 1-2 months ago that smoke was permeating into their room from the designated smoke areas (they had a non water view room). So, I went and looked at the map of CBR and sure enough, all the designated smoking areas are in the inner alcoves (which is what I saw in passing to our room, but didn't know they were all that way).

My point being...if you do a pirate room and don't care for smoke AND can't decide whether to upgrade to water view or not, I would probably recommend a water view room if you can afford it. We will definitely try to get a water view in Dec to avoid the smoke around our room...

I've stayed at CBR, POL & CSR with CBR being my favorite. It's got a great atmosphere. I also did Pop last October for a quick cheap get away & actually really enjoyed it there. I must admit to being spoiled now being a DVC member :rotfl2:

I agree with everyone on the post. We love POR. We have stayed here many times and love the feel. :dance3:

The Mansion rooms are great. The food court large and many offerings:). The pool on Ole Man River has lots of quiet spots to relax and read a book. You also get to use the pool at PORFQ.

You'll love the resort with the walking and riding paths. :thumbsup2

The saloon has a great piano player and sing along too!

You POR fans don't give up! As I said before, I've stayed at POR and for this trip, it doesn't meet the criteria outlined in my original post- really fun pool, plus availability at the AP discounted rate. Food court and transportation don't matter to us, so the new pool with zero entry, fast slide and big water play area at CBR win for us.

And although this is a surprise trip for DS, we sat down and looked at pictures of all the moderates this weekend and my son said CBR looked the "funnest". :) Sounds Luke I made the right choice! :thumbsup2
