I am thinking about taking the plunge on Memory Maker for our Jan trip with the grandparents just because we often come back from our trips with tons of pictures of dad and the girls but shockingly non with ME :)

I know among the general population many more people have these once in a lifetime trips than DVC'ers... do you guys ever do memory maker? Since we aren't planning on bringing my parents regularly, and since I'll probably be doing a lot of herding, I was thinking it might make sense this one trip.

We just did Memory Maker in May when we went with DD and DGGD. It was so nice to let someone else worry about getting the photos. It was also cool to have the ride photos. It was definitely worth it for us.

We added Memory Maker for our trip this past May. We had a large party with family and friends -- many on their very first trip to WDW. It was very worthwhile for us and participants in my roaming party certainly enjoyed it! (My group tried really hard for memorable ride photos once they knew they could 'buy' them all!)

I did not usually get memory maker. I got it in Feb with my family and friends. It was great. We are planning to go back in October and I am going to purchase it again.

We got it in January when we had the whole family with us and again in May when my DF88 and DGD5 were with us. But we didn't get it in March when it was DH and myself and won't when it's an adults-only trip. In January and May we knew we'd want a lot of ride photos and also got a few magic shots too.

We almost always do (now) Memory Maker or (before) Photopass. It's usually my favorite souvenir. I take hundreds of my own photos most trips but some of our best family photos are Photopass shots.

I'm strange. I tote a nice DSLR and some nice glass and I have carried a pocket camera when I didn't want to tote the DSLR around all day. I always have a decent camera at my fingertips.

Having prefaced it with that, I have never made a trip w/o Photopass, what became Photopass+, and now Memory Maker. My DD9 loves pictures with all of us in it and we usually get 50-75 MM shots per trip. My wife and daughter decorate them with the frames, backgrounds and stuff and we zip'em up, download them and file them away on the picture server here at my home office.

As long as they offer a reasonable discount, I intend to continue. I will admit, I Was about to draw the line at 199 and got pretty mad a year or so ago when it went from 100 to 149. Given the I can get ride photos and photos with all of us with a discount for $149, I consider it a cost of doing business kind of thing.

I also ought to add that we go on the cheap. We usually spend less than a thousand dollars on a week-long trip including gas from NC. To me, it's an important part of the trip and memory (no pun intended) and it's worth the cost. YMMV.

I bought several Photo Pass Plus to last us a few trips. It is nice to have someone else take pictures. I like to edit the pictures and add all the special borders.

I just wish the process to add borders/stickers was quicker. Their system is SO-O-O SLOW!

Memory maker is great. ( better than Photopass+ imho ) For us, here's why.

Memory Maker, along with My Disney Experience, allows the plan owner to view, print, include pictures of *anyone in your travel party*. That's not just the people in your room. It means anyone travelling at the same time that are your friends on MDE that have set YOU to allow to view/purchase photos.

We were 19 people. All of them were set to allow me to view/purchase their photos. That means at the end of the trip, I was able to go to the memory maker site, and download *all* our photopass and ride photos.

What are the exact steps required for this? I have already "invited my friends to share".

1) After they accept, do they need to do anything else on their end?
2) What about rides, etc. Does every photo just go on their own band? Do I need to be on ride with them?
3) Anything else you think I should know?

Thanks!

1) Once they accept, they should click on your name in their friends and family section and make sure you are set to allow viewing/purchasing of photos. If they manage other family members ( like children who don't have their own account, for example ), the setting should get applied to them as well with this one change.
2) You don't need to be with them. Just tell them it's for memory maker. There were a few cast members that still seemed confused about this because the old photopass+ required the owner to be present, but I confirmed before leaving. You don't need to be there. just tell them it's for memory maker and scan your bracelet.

You may not see pictures right away on the site that day, but if you *can* I would log in at some point during your trip and make sure you are in fact seeing all pictures.

If you are able, I would still note the photo numbers on rides somewhere, so if anything is missing, IT can still fix it and add your pictures.

( We didn't have problems, but we've read that some people did. I suspect this had to do with proper permissions not being granted in MDE )

Awesome. Thanks a lot for your detailed answers!
