DVCAA (Disney Vacation Club Addicts Anonymous)

I've been a DVC addict since 1996 and a Disney addict since 1973. I have contributed to my husband, son's and now DIL's addictions...we're a hot Disney mess! We do buy and sell and are now on #9 and considering #10. I always wanted a pony but never got one...I blame my parents who drove my brother and I 1800 miles one way without a/c in 1973. Regrettably, we drove 1800 miles back (also without a/c) and I have been in recovery ever since.
I'm always a little envious when I hear stories like this and see people with tons of trip dates in their signature line dating back years and years. I only went to Disney for the first time when I was 14, and then again at 17 and 21 - and then not again until I was 42!!!! What the heck, KP? I have no idea what happened there. (Note: I don't have kids so that probably had something to do with it lol.) But when I went back in 2014 for a multigenerational family trip, it was like someone injected crack straight into my veins and I was obsessed. Still didn't make it back until January 2019 for an amazing girls trip, though. I discovered The Dis in the summer of 2018 while planning for the girls trip, and lurked on the boards for almost a year before I was brave enough to join. And once I found out DVC was a thing? Forget about it. I ingested all the DVC content I could get my hands on and now I have a 20-sheet Excel spreadsheet that I loooooooooooooooooove to update with new low price per point data I get primarily from the ROFR thread. Is it possible to have addonitis before your first contract? Because I think I do. Just waiting until I'm comfortable enough to pay cash for my first contract. I predict I burst into happy tears when I check in for my first Welcome Home visit.

It’s totally natural to have addonitis before your first contract... Before I I purchased my first contract I tried to convince myself not to by reading and watching anything negative about DVC and they all were positives to me 🤪... Plus I had the advantage of being influence by family members who were members before me and stayed with them on trips... As long as you can afford it, it’s well worth it, just look at what it costs (I’m sure you know if you’re this far along) per night paying cash and eventually 10,20,30 plus years from now the cost of what you pay now will be less then staying ya Days Inn bc as it is staying off property isnt getting any less expensive esp if your local or have the means to travel to Disney frequently... It’s a magical experience to be a DVC member and the memrories you’ll make w friends and family last a lifetime... 🥰

4 resorts:
- 2 contracts at BRV
- 3 small contracts at AKL
- 2 studio guaranteed week contracts at CCV, with 1 small contract in ROFR (so 3 total if the last passes)
- 1 small contract at SSR waiting for closing docs (for sleep around points, though I confess if I had purchased CCV first, I wouldn't have gone after this contract)
Awesome, thanks!

Oh and all same UY.
I am in awe of those juggling not just multiple resorts but multiple UY!

the only one I’d consider a new UY is VGC because I’d literally only use those points for that resort.
Same boat. I am at three resorts all same use year but I want a VGC add on. One popped up this week with my use yesterday but 200 points at 220 a point was too rich for me. It sold fast too

I should be here too...

Just started with one but I went big. 380 at Aulani. I live in CA and have a 5 year old who I plan on taking each year for a while. I am already monitoring this site regularly and I"m sure I will "need" a FL location to visit soon... Oh and when the DL Tower is built, I will probably "need" that too.

Does this group have a 12 step program or something like it 8-)

First step is too admit you have a problem, and I for one won't be doing that :)

The Aulani resort is beautiful and the Menehune kids play area is so cute, wish they had one for adults, the lazy river is so relaxing and the golf course is fun (actually shanked one, golf ball ricocheted off a palm tree at a 90 degree angle and hit a moving car lol)... 12 steps; if you’ve made it this far you’re beyond 12 steps and into the rabbit hole... lol 😂

I sooo belong here. I have 5 now 😳 I initially bought 2 and was happy. Then a Aulani sub contract showed up and I couldn’t resist. (Different UY) Then playing around during covid I got a 60 OKW for $75 and a 80 OKW for $80. Like seriously I need to stop making offers 😂

so 2 UYs and what will be 5 contracts as soon as the other two show up in my account

I haven’t even passed ROFR with my first contract and I am already thinking about the next step. I purchased a small SSR contract to sort of test out DVC and make sure it works for our family.
My husband does not like Disney at all. Agrees to go for the sake of the kids but fully supports my RunDisney weekends with my older daughter. Dh did not care which resort bought as long as it wasn’t VGF. Problem is VGF is my favorite resort ever. I would be happiest staying there every trip. Now, I am kind of thinking maybe I’ll keep on eye out for a small VGF contract for trips DH doesn’t go.
I have my eye on adding on AKV, BLT, and VGF.
Yesterday my DH happened to pass a new silver Toyota SUV and sent me a pic bc he thought I would like the new design.
My first thought was I’m not spending $30,000 on a new car when that money would cover all the points the DVC points I want.

Welcome home 🤩

Addonitis- It’s real alright! 4 UYs, 7 Home resorts and 14 (or maybe it’s 15) contracts and it still an everyday battle not to add more!

Me too! One use year, 4 home reports, 11 contracts, (4 others bought and sold). Changed our portfolio of resorts, went from 1300+ points to 1200+...I am really jonesing Vero Beach for some reason. We stayed there for the first time and I loved it. Everyday it is a battle!

P.S. my DH didn’t blink an eye when I said I was looking for a Vero contract! What a sweetheart!
