My wife and I go at least once a year. Sometimes staying at moderate sometimes value and once or twice higher priced. We usually stay 6 days. We did go on the Disney Cruise once and loved so most likely will do it again. Anyone think DVC is worth it for us? TIA

We dont have children yet and arent planning to for another couple of years. We have been going to WDW every year since 03. We bought in last year on our second trip. We wanted to start paying for future family vacations now while we are a young, newlywed couple. This gives both my husband and I and our future children a guaranteed trip every year for a long time to come.

If you aren't particular about staying in a deluxe resort, it might not be worth it. DVC makes sense if you must stay on-site and usually stay in a deluxe resort IMO.

We bought DVC after daughters were in college. It works for us. We stayed in a mix of moderate and deluxe resorts before buying DVC so from a cost perspective we will be spending a bit less by being members. We also really enjoy the 1 bdrm size and amenities over a standard resort room.

We too stayed in a mix of moderates and deluxes before buying in '97. By the time we purchased, our "kids" were in their 20's, so we were already empty nesters. We quickly learned that by buying APs and shifting our travel dates by a week each year, we were able to do two trips on one AP, so we started doing that right away too. Now with the great DVC/AP discount, we are in heaven! Suffice it to say, we often take friends and family along for the fun, and we feel DVC was one of the best decisions we have ever made!

I would NOT reccomend DVC for cruises though. Cruising on points is an out of DVC system exchange, so is point costly. It is usually best if you take annual WDW trips and like to stay in deluxe accommodations.

We are a married couple in our early 30s with no children. After 8 trips in 5 years it really made sense to us. We are also looking forward to sharing the Disney magic with our family. The idea of having larger accomodations, as well as having kitchen facilities, really appeal because we get tired of fast food really quickly and don't want to eat sit down restaurant meals 3 times a day.

If your 6 days avoids one weekend day, you will go most years and you can plan ahead at least 7 months, DVC MAY be a good choice. If not, it very likely is not.

We don't have kids, but found ourselves returning on average about every 18 months. We also prefer deluxe resorts (typically WL) so it made sense. Also, believe it or not, I like the idea of something forcing me to get away. We have some years to our detriment not made time for just the two of us to relax away from it all.

My wife and I go at least once a year.

That's what it's all about, my dear. :goodvibes

DH and I were DVCers several years before we became parents and we enjoyed our points to the fullest! In fact, to be perfectly honest, we haven't been able to enjoy our membership to it's fullest since. But now that our oldest is 4+ we're starting our annual (and then some) trips again.

Worked for us.

DH and I (no kids, not ever having kids, ixnay on the idskay) joined 2 years ago and our biggest thrill has been what you mentioned - it has forced us to take vacations! We've taken more vacations since joining (and not just at WDW) than in all the years we'd been together prior to that (well, I'm sure that's not true, but it feels like it).

We had never stayed in a Deluxe before (well, I used to stay at the Contemporary when I was growing up, but there was no other choice except the Polynesian...) (oh, wait, we did stay at the Institute once) and would have been perfectly content to stay at the All Stars each trip. However, you can only have my DVC when you pry my cold, dead hands from it... it's made that much diff in our lives! We're not saving a penny, but we're enjoying life a whole lot more! :flower:

(P.S. And now that we've tried a one bedroom - dang it, there's no going back.)

We do not have children & have been members since 1993. We have had family & friends share our vacations at DVC once in awhile, but most of the time it is just the two of us in our unit (usually a one bedroom). You have to decide what works best for you.

We have no kids....well, except me. But we love having a deluxe room and. It works for us.

I could have written most of the other replys. It is just DH and I. We are between 45 and 50 and enjoy our WDW trips every time we go. We would not have paid to stay in anything more than a moderate in trips pre-DVC. DH loves having more space, the w/d, the kitchen, and the jacuzzi! We relax more, do different stuff everytime we go. DH is a golfer, so that is a big (I really meant BIG! ) draw for him. If you enjoy Disney and think you will continue to enjoy Disney, it can't be beat! That is JMO!
Oh, and on our last trip, we became 1-bdrm "snobs"! Don't think we'll ever go back to a studio. And today we had a serious talk about adding on :cool1:

Any other questions??

OH MY GOODNESS---DO IT, RIGHT NOW! My DH and I were married older than most folks that marry---late 30's...each of us had children from a previous marriage that we were raising---long story short---one just finished college---one is starting HS next year---and we are always going to be WDW Buddies---some of the best times we've been there have just been he and I--it's AWESOME! We've both had small children, granted not together (we are about to celebrate our 5th Anniversary) but we BOTH know how it is to have little people, not so little people, and young adults----whew---what a job! Don't regret it, wouldn't change it, we have TWO beautiful daughters that are GREAT---but Lord, ask me would I do it again----so do the DVC, ENJOY it w/your signficant other, and be thankful that you aren't dealing with poor, overly tired, way overly cranky, or BORED teens---doing WDW!!!
WE LOVE THE DELUXE RESORTS! Especially WL---we have stayed offsite once (at a VERY NICE hotel, near DTD, wonderful, had a great time---but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING beats a WDW RESORT! Go for it!

We are childless and DVC Works for us! (You gotta love the one bedroom for a couple!) Like a couple of other posters stated, owning DVC forces us to take more & better vacations. But, owning DVC may only work for you if you are willing to go to WDW most years.

Research---buy if it's right for you---have a great life! :teeth:

Geez, thanks for all the replies! My wife and I definately go at least once a year and can usually plan it at least 7 months ahead of time. We do not and will not have kids, been married and going to WDW for almost 12 years now. I'm 48 and the wife is... a little younger. :goodvibes We live in NJ (if that means anything when connected to the whole conversation ;) ) We do like the idea of DVC, just not sure of the investment. We generally spend between $500 - $700 a year on hotels. Yes, we do always stay on Disney property, couldn't have it any other way, however we've only stayed in a deluxe twice. Keep up with the feedback, we really appreciate it. Thanks again!

We have one child who is 16 and we've been going to Disney since he was 8. We wish upon a star at least once every year we are in Disney that the empty-nest-years were already upon us so we can act like kids ourself with Mickey! LOL :cool1: :cheer2:

DVC will cost more than this, counting the initial investment and yearly maintenance fees. However, the difference in accommodations between what you can get for $500 - $700 and a DVC room (esp. the 1 bedroom!) is significant. DH and I bought in 1999 when he was 66 and I was 52. We have added-on numerous times because we love our DVC vacations so much, whether on our own or bringing family/friends. It sounds like, in your case, a DVC purchase would be to upgrade vacations, not save money. JMHO.
