DVC Without Children

Definitely NOT crazy!

DH & I don't have kids (not because we don't want any) and becoming DVC members have been the greatest thing we've ever done. If it wasn't for our DVC - we wouldn't be able to afford a vacation every year.

And we love Disney - so how can it be crazy?? :lovestruc

I am single, not married and I own at DVC. I go with friends and relatives.
If you love WDW go ahead and buy into the vacation club. You know you will
love it!

I also agree with everyone else - if you love going to Disney on vacation you should go forward with your purchase. We just bought in June & DH & I took our very 1st trip home last month without the kids. It was a little weird at 1st, but we got over it pretty quick! We had a great time & I can definitely see us going again & again for some adult time. After all even if you do have children they're not little forever. Don't get me wrong it's a great place for families but there are plenty of things for adults to do alone too. Best of luck with your decision.

Aren't adults just kids who never grew up? :confused3 Isn't that what Disney's about? Well, that and to take us away from the stress of life for awhile... kids don't appreciate that LOL.

Speaking as a single mom who's appreciating that her kids are more grown and independent I think you'll LOVE DVC without kids. If you've ever gone and stayed at a value resort you'd notice they're swarming with little ones (I love children, but sometimes it's just too much) Tthe DVC resorts get you away from that. I've had my turn at babies - I can deal with one crying on the bus, but when you get 2 or more going my mom nerves kick in and I need to do something to get away :rotfl:

This coming trip I'm headed south with my kids to meet up with my sister and her 2 little ones... don't tell my kids, but I'm already trying to plan how to get over to Disney with just her and without them :rotfl: I'm looking foward to being ablt to do more of those trips as I get older and DVC will just enhance the experience as I won't be wondering where I'll be staying, what the rooms are like or worrying about cost.

DH and I don't have any kids and won't be having any either. after a few years of saving, we finally just bought into AK. While i am looking forward to being able to take vacations with our extended family, including my 4 nieces and nephews, we bought for us because we enjoy going to WDW so much.

Oh God no!!! We don't have kids yet!!! I think it will be great when we do have kids though!

But for right now it's just hubbie and I and we love it!

We thought the same thing......we still get the 1BR. I will not go home with dirty wash and don't want to spend time in a laundry room down the hall.

I know!!! I love not having to do laundry when you get home!

you don't stay witht the laundry - put the laundry in - then go back to your room or swimming - come back in 20 minutes - put in the fabric softerner - then in 10 to 15 to move to the dryer - again for 20 minutes -remember to put your clothes in 2 dryers.

easy.

DW and I are proud DINKs. We have gone to WDW 3 times this year. Now with free internet we have even gone down and worked a few days so that we could spend a few days relaxing. I spent 4 hours in AK last week sitting under the tree of life on the discovery trails, that no one seems to walk anymore, reading a book. It was amazing. Listening to the 2 macaws fight, watching the birds on the lake, etc. Very relaxing. We also like OKW and sitting out on the big porches with a bottle of wine and just chilling. So much for us to do that we bought a large AKV contract to be able to take the extended fam and then added on a 150 point VWL contract just for us to use at Christmas.

We too love the one bedrooms. We do not really eat meals in the room besides what ever we can toast for breakfast, but we love having the extra space. I think it makes me what to relax in the room rather than always be out of the room commandoing the parks. In any case, I would definitely recommend DVC for DINKs. There is a little kid in all of us. ;)

Thanks to all of you who responded, you put me back on the right track...We have made out decision to go ahead with our DVC purchase...and we are looking forward to many magical years to come and to pehaps meeting some of you along the way! Thanks again.:goodvibes

I bought 12 years ago when my husband and I were just dating. He has two sons that we have brought down with us several times, however there have been many times my now husband and I have gone several times by ourselves. He loves to golf, I go to the spa, shop and hang by the pool. We enjoy going to dinner or just hanging in the room making dinner together.
The past several years we have brought friends and family with us for their first Disney experience in our DVC villa. For some it may be their only trip and others will be back. It is the least we can do for others who will never be able to stay in a luxury resort.
The nice part is we can always choose to go alone for a long weekend to get away from it all. This was the best investment I madeall those years ago.
Buy and enjoy with family and friends. :cool1:

We bought DVC when our son was 9. We have lots of great Mickey vacation memories as a family. He is now 19 and a freshman in college and now DH and I are doing the happy dance and looking forward to Mickey vacations just the two of us. And then when we have grandchildren some day we will hopefully be sharing great vacations with children again.........although I always say there is no adults allowed in the Magic Kingdom! As soon as you walk under the train station your kid at heart comes out.

:cool1: :woohoo:

My kids are grown. We bought DVC because my DH & I enjoy it. It is the one place that I know that we can go where we both relax. It was purely selfish - for the two of us!!!! Our kids will go with us sometimes and we may take grandkids (if we ever have any) but that was not the reason for buying.

Glad you are going for it! I bought 7 years before kids, and believe me, everyone and their distant first cousin's wife will ask you to "go to Disney". My husband and I went A LOT before kids and miss our time alone... we are actually going to go next year alone during food and wine festival.

That's a GREAT time to go... love Flower and Garden show too. but the food and wine festival.... why half way around Epcot DH and I had to sit on a bench and rest cause we barely could feel our toes.... pushed the twins in the stroller and they were sound asleep... the air is different in Disney --- babes always slept well in strollers there....

anyway, enjoy one of the best luxurious resorts in the nation and don't feel bad about buying --- you can always trade out and go to a Concierge hotel... best bang for you buck is at DVC tho... they have it all!

Enjoy for many years to come! And watch out for pesky family free-loaders... you'll see what I mean!:rotfl:
