We are about to become DVC members, but I am suddenly having second thoughts. We have no children and will not have children. Is this a crazy move for "single" people?

I don't think its crazy. Even if it was just DH and me, I would still buy ;) we really love going. My opinion for what its worth is if you enjoy going then buy.

I'm single with no children and love my DVC. I travel with friends (who have grandchildren). We take 2-5 trips a year to FL sans kids (and sometimes husbands).

My DW and I don't have any children. It's just the two of us on every single DVC vacation we take.

Not crazy at all. Even those of us who have children will not forever...they grow up...grandchildren are not a guarantee either. If you see yourself vacationing at WDW at least every other year for the forseeable future, DVC may be great for you.

We have kids but only take them on the spring vacations. Our fall getaway is adults only and we love it !!! Friends also own DVC and their kids are fully grown without children of their own (yet). They share their points with many friends as well as their grown children.

Welcome to the Dis!

I don't think it's crazy at all. While we do have kids, DH & I are really looking forward to the day they're out of the house and we can do our Disney trips without them  Of course DVC is wonderful for families with kids, it's also wonderful for singles, couples, anyone who wants to stay at Disney at least every other year :goodvibes Keep in mind, you may want to bring friends or relatives with you (or not :rolleyes1 ).

not crazy at all. i don;t have nay children but i do like to vacation at disney alot so it makes sense for me. plus i have the option of taking my sister's families and friends.

Absolutely not crazy. Go pick up "Walt Disney World Without Kids" which is one of the Birnbaum Guides and has lots of great things which you'll find interesting.

Welcome to the DIS!

Not crazy at all. DH and I don't have any children and have been vacationing at Disney together since our honeymoon in 1990 and have been happy DVC owners since early 2000.

If Disney is what makes you happy and you see yourself coming back often then I think DVC is right for you!

My husband and I love vacationing at WDW and our 3 DVC contracts are for us, not our grown children. My husband loves to golf, I love to go to the spas. We both enjoy walking, going to dinner together, etc. On our most recent trip in May, we didn't even go into the parks. One of the best things about WDW is that it offers alot for everyone.

DH and I have no children and will never have any children - and we go to DL, DLP, WDW (and DCL) as often as we can on our DVC points! We even sit through NYC Disney on Broadway shows without any children in tow.

Friends of ours, a married couple we've known for many years, just bought into DVC this year after seeing how much we've enjoyed DVC. He was all for it initially and she wasn't (until she took the tour at the WDW preview center). Now she wants an add-on in 2009 and he's rolling his eyes! They are in the same boat as us - don't have kids, don't want kids.

We've met a lot of adult couples around the DVC resorts that go there without children. There are more of us than you might think. Join in with us DINKS!

I'll agree with everybody that said that there is no requirement to having children in order to buy DVC (or even just go to Disney). That mind-set comes from folks that think Disney is only for children.

We love Disney and DVC, but you need to consider your own situation. Are you really Disney fans that want to go every year? Or even more often? If so, they yes DVC is probably for you.

But if you aren't Disney fans and are thinking that you'll go to WDW every 3-4 years and trade-out the other years so you can go elsewhere, then DVC may not be for you. The best value for your points comes from stays at DVC resorts. The value of a trade-out to either other Disney hotels or even out of the network isn't as great. In that case DVC may not be the right choice for you.

Dh and I don't have kids, and love WDW and our DVC.

We've been to WDW several times as a couple. We love going at our own pace, and enjoying the attention to detail, fountains, landscaping, etc. We can be very mature and go to fine restaurants, or be 10 years old and ride Dumbo. It's our choice! We have a wonderful time.

I noticed one BIG thing when we went with my sisters WITH THEIR KIDS. -- It was really, really expensive for them.

Not having kids means that you can use fewer points per stay, pay less in admission, dining, transportation, etc. Just pay attention to the point charts and purchase only what fits your needs/desires.

DO consider how the combination of DVC, Annual Passes, and possibly a kitchen will increase your mileage in making trips. (You may find that you can stay for 2 weeks instead of 1 now.)

One more thing -- addonitis is really contagious. In hindsight, Dh and I could have GOTTEN BY with 25 points (seriously), but are now just barely making it on our extraordinarilly small 100 point contract. We've discovered 1 bedrooms, weekends, and Hilton Head.

Good Luck!

Gosh yes, DH and I are DINKS and we love going to Disney. We've suffered badly from addonitis this year and ended up with an obscene amount of points. But we're spoiled. We only stay in one bedrooms, which is pure heaven. We've gone to WDW or DL every month this year! :cool1:

And, we've been able to take extended family to DL twice this year and gotten everyone rooms at the GC, which has been fantastic.

No regrets here! DVC has been the best thing that we've done (except get married, of course:lmao: )

We don't have children either and very much enjoy our DVC. Since 2001 and still going strong.;)

We bought DVC just for the two of us; for a getaway. We have other timeshare that we use when we travel with the entire family. Our units are dedicated 2 bedrooms; a waste for just the 2 of us and must be planned a year in advance. Our kids are older now but occasionally travel with us; 1 married and 1 in HS. But our DVC points - a getaway annually for just us in whatever size unit we decide, whenever we decide to go! Much more flexible!

We don't have kids, but we're planning on having them. We don't know when we'll have kids, though, so until we do the two of us will enjoy DVC. We were just down at OKW a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. We're going back to BWV in February for ten days or so. If you like the parks, and you enjoy all of the other parts of the WDW resort (i.e., other hotels, the Boardwalk, Downtown Disney, the restaurants, etc.) then it can really make sense even for two people.

So not crazy. Dh & I are so happy that '09 my son starts college, not because we're proud of him (which we are) but because now we can go to Disney by ourselves. ;) We are getting more and more enjoyment out of it as the kids get older and older.

DINKS here too! DH and I have been married 8 years, no kids and LOVE WDW!! We finally realized it would have been more cost effective to buy into DVC sooner than what we did, but now we have many wonderful years of DVC to look forward to! We are taking our friends with us next summer and have a big family trip planned for 2010 with DH's family.
