We are arriving tomorrow and staying at The Boardwalk and we wanted to head over to Saratoga Springs to see the Welcome Center and the AKL "model" villa. Last time we were there we noticed a lot of DVC vans. Will they come to The Boardwalk to pick us up if we are existing DVC members?

I believe that the vans are only used to get potential members to/from the sales center. Your best bet is to hop on any Saratoga Springs bus at one of the parks. If you are coming from the BWV just head to the Studios and hop on the SSR bus there.

That said, I do not think the AKV models are there anymore. I believe they now have Aulani and VGF models at the sales center. Perhaps someone else can confirm/refute this.

Thank you! We were last month when we joined and they had all 3 set up.

Good to know! When you arrive at SSR, you will want to get off at The Springs. Walk across the street and to the left. Follow the sidewalk to the end of the building and turn right. The sales center will be ahead and to your right.

Isn't there a specific time slot where members are just allowed to tour the models without a guide? Rhetorical question. I know that at least there used to be. It seems to me like it was from 2:00-4:00 or something like that. Maybe it's open all the time now but better safe than sorry. I'd call and check first.

Very interesting. I would have thought the AK Villas would have been long-gone by now and that they may even be secretly constructing the Poly models where the AK models were by now.

Wonder why the AK models are still there?

Yes, this is true. There are certain hours you can go open house style. They usually have a non-sales DVC member walk you around. We went in 2012 to see the Aulani models since we knew we were going in 2013.

At that time they only had AKV and Aulani as VGF were being constructed.

Yes. And as the PP said too. Call to find out when you can tour.

My kids love the lemonade and cookies in the lobby of the Welcome Center. And actually, so does my husband.

There is a Sales Center right at the Boardwalk. Ask there if the SSR Center still has the AKV models. You can also ask them about the DVC vans - they do use them to pick up and return potential buyers and may also be happy to take you to SSR.

The Sales Center is where the green arrow is on this picture. :thumbsup2
