Hi everyone! I’m a long time lurker on the boards but I could use some help. I’m sorry in advance that this is long. We just want some options and opinions.

So I will be getting married in WDW in 2021. My parents are DVC members and will be getting us points for the wedding festivities. We are trying to plan out points now because we will need to set aside a certain amount for planning sessions.

Here are some things that you will need to know:
-50 points at BLT
-170 points at WL
-200 points at AKL
-They get new points every February.
-points from 2020 will be banked, we will use 2021, we will borrow from 2022

What we ultimately want:
-A 1br and a studio at WL from a Friday-Monday
-a grand villa and a 1br at GF from Monday-Thursday
-a studio or 1br at either Poly or BLT from Thursday-Monday
-a 1br at BLT from Thursday-Saturday
( If they have enough points they were going to give 4 rooms at GF to close family for 2 nights too).

Now here’s the question. She has been going back and forth with different scenarios and changing things around. Is there any way that this could even potentially be done? Since we don’t own at GF we would have to wait until 7 months to book. And since we don’t have enough points at BLT at 11 months, we would have to wait until 7 for that too. The only absolute necessity are the GF rooms because we are getting married at the wedding pavilion. We are just feeling a little bit discouraged and don’t want to be stuck with nothing (or be stuck traveling all over Disney on our wedding day). We are open to any suggestions! Even possibly renting points at 11 months and selling ours? Idk! Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and help us! :wizard:

You don’t mention what month you are getting married as that can play a big role. VGF is very difficult to get, especially studios, at 7 months. I am not sure about GVs though. 1 bedrooms tend to be easier to get at 7 months.

If VGF is the ultimate, one way to get that is to try and rent a reservation from a VGF owner for those days. Of course, that does require you, to find someone renting that many points.

Poly only has studios and no 1br. Because you do own at Wildnerness that part will be doable. With a 50 point at BLT, you will be able with 3 years worth of points be able to secure some of what you want there at 11 months. I’d book the studio you want there and save trying to get the 1 bedroom for 7 months with your AKV points.

But, as I said, when you want to do all this will make a difference. I got 4 nights at VGF in a studio at 7 months for next week. So it is possible..

Hope this helps!

Oh my gosh! I’m sorry.. July lol. (Wednesday, July 14th will be the wedding)

It’s possible then with a July wedding you will have luck. I have switched into Poly and BLT during that time frame at 7 months. I have also had good luck with wait lists during July with the MK area resorts. So, if you go on right at 7 months, I think you have a chance to secure a lot of what you want.

BTW, congrats!

I think GFV villas are going to be the hardest to get.

Are the WL points Boulder Ridge or Copper Creek? BRV will be a bit easier than CCV.

Thank you! This definitely makes me feel a little bit better!

Book all your home resort stays in Aug 2020 at 11 months out. GFV is going to be tough. And I don't think you are going to get four GFV studios for family. You might get hotel rooms, but the point cost is going to be very, very high. And that is only if your parents are grandfathered resale or direct points.

I would take a look at the charts in this thread.
https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...-studios-1-bedrooms-june-2018-update.3689931/Great resource to get an idea of possible 7 month availability.

The only thing you can really book at 11 months out is your 1br and studio at VWL and the 1br at BLT. You don’t have enough points at BLT to book the other BLT/Poly stay at 11 months if I’m adding things correctly.

Looking at the charts in the above thread you have a good chance of getting the GF 3 br, but the 1br is probably going to be tricky. You may have a better chance of getting a 2br so may have to upgrade to that.

I would plan on Poly studios for your additional 4 rooms. They will be easier to get than GF studios and are located very close to the wedding pavilion.

If there are any rooms that are absolute necessities your only option is to rent points, but like PP have mentioned, you’ll have to find someone with that many GF points to rent.

Sounds like you’re going to have an amazing wedding no matter what. Good luck and congrats!
