DVC Waitlist Question

Hi, Disney Friends!

I have two questions regarding the Waitlist system with DVC.

The first questions is: If my Waitlist goes through, and I have a reservation already booked, will my confirmation number change?

The second question is: I am going in a month to WDW and I currently have a Savanna View Studio at AKV - Kidani, and I have Waitlisted BLT - Lake View and Boulder Ridge - Studio. It's only a 3-night stay so what would be the chances of it going through? I check multiple times a day and still nothing comes up.

I'm also thinking about changing my Waitlist from BRV to either VGF or BCV.... is it too late?

You'll probably get a better response asking this on the DVC resort boards but it's honestly a crap shoot if it comes through or not. The odds are not in your favor but stuff happens all of the time and people cancel. How long have you had the waitlist? Are you inside of 31 days? That will drastically decrease your chances. Its not like DVC opens more inventory as time gets closer. What's unavailable is booked unless you get lucky and someone cancels and you happen to be at the top of the waitlist

NicoleLarson is right, you'll get more experienced responses on the DVC boards.

I don't know the answer to your first question.

Your chances of the WL coming through for a 3-night stay go down after the 30-day mark. Members who cancel prior to the 30-day mark will get their points back with no restrictions. Members who cancel 30 to 1 day prior to arrival have their points placed in holding. If WLs are being filled, there's a domino effect and something might come available at BLT or BRV. I wouldn't hold out much hope if you're already less than 30 days from arrival and you haven't had any luck yet.

There's no reason to change your WL at this point. Changing to a small resort like VGF (only 47 studios) or BCV puts you at the bottom of the list and reduces your chances of success even further.

When did you create your waitlists? Unless they were created months ago there isn't too great of a chance it will be fulfilled. Changing it now will only make it worse putting you at the end of the line.

A multi-night waitlist has less of a chance than a single night.

It was created about 2 weeks ago. I booked at Kidani 3 weeks ago just in case the WL never goes through.

Your chances are honestly slim to none. Changing the WL at this late date won't do you any good, others have been on the list since the 7 month mark (even possibly the 11 month mark).

Yes, any resort has the potential to open up; I just wouldn't bet on it.

Maybe. Depends on if people cancel and/or if the waitlist picks up any cancels that happen.

Anything is possible if you stalk the website but the WL software has been getting better at pulling villas aside when they match someone's WL and they are less likely to be snagged by stalking than they were in the past. In all honesty, I don't believe a 3-day WL that was just started 2 weeks ago is going to come thru for you. If it were a single night, maybe. Three consecutive nights is going to be tough. Stalking the website may be your only chance of sniping a room before the WL grabs it.

Personally I seriously doubt it. People book and wait list 11-7 months in advance. 3 weeks isn't going to get what you hope Do you have a backup reservation somewhere?

Yes, we have a backup reservation in a Savanna View room at Kidani Village. I've been checking multiple times a day, but nothing has come through.

I had a waitlist match recently for a 1 night stay and the conf # did change. No biggie although I was surprised - thought it would work like a modified ADR. Anyway, no problem linking in MDE and away we go. Had to borrow 1 point to get it and that was handled correctly as well so I guess I'm up 1 on waitlists.

Good thing the confirmation stayed the same. The reason I was asking was because I had made MagicBand orders with the conf. I currently have, and if the number changes, the MagicBand order would change.

Sorry if I was not clear...confirmation number DID change. Not sure how that will affect MB. My hunch, not at all i.e. The system will know one res replaced the other, but if you are concerned make a quick call.
