Tonight we're out for dinner and DS8 starts to talk about our upcoming trip (2 weeks and counting!). DS says "Hey, Dad, how about if you and I share a room and mom and DS2 share a room". I had to break the bad news to him that we are staying at the AKL for the first couple of nights, therefore, there won't be any bedrooms. I thought he was going to cry! He couldn't believe we were actually going on a vacation and having a regular hotel room. What, no bedrooms?? How are we going to stay up late and watch TV? We're all going to be in the same room? I'm starting to think we've spoiled our children!
The good news is that we'll be at the BCV the second half of our trip. Then he'll feel like he's "home".
Next he'll be asking for his own points!!

My husband and son have only stayed in villas. 14 y.o. Daughter barely remembers a trip or two at Poly and WL. Our very next trip we are staying at AKL, Savannah View and Polynesian concierge. I fully expect some level of "we're staying in ONE room!" from DH and/or DD. (My 7 y.o. son will probably like it better, sort of liking camping together in a little tent!)

I am already prepared with my retort that if AKL and Poly concierge aren't good enough, then they ARE spoiled!

When the four of us (wife, self, 2 daughters) are not staying in a 2BR at a DVC resort, we typically stay at in a 2BR at Marriott Vacation Club resort or in a Residence Inn by Marriott or a Summerfield Suites by Wyndham. If such places are not available, we usually settle for connecting rooms at a hotel or motor inn or a 1BR suite.

I can't remember when the four of us last shared a conventional hotel room with two double or queen beds -- probably 1993!

cgcw....well, at least you're doing the accommodations in the right order (resort, then DVC). And yes, it is amazing how quickly the kids take things like DVC for granted. But that's the nature of kids.

Of course, when we're empty nesters, DW and I will still stay in a 1BR. Wonder where my kids got their spoiled nature?? ;)

This past August, 4 of us spent a night at a Marriott. We had 2 queen beds and we had a rollaway brought in. (DS is 21, DD is 17.)

After a loooong day, we settle in. First, DH starts snoring, and he's way too close to me. (We have a king bed at home.) Next, DD starts snoring (allergies), and finally, there's a melody coming from DS's bed. His specialty is not a snore, it's a "toot". ;)

As I was lying there, wondering who I'll smother first, I kept thinking "thank God we're all in different rooms when we're at WDW.":p

And let's not even bring up having just one bathroom.

At my house, it's Mom who cries when we have to be in one hotel room.:D
