I've seen posts on these boards about DVC exchanges and direct II exchanges. What's the difference?

From what I've read it seems DVC exchanges require going through MS to book one of the World Passport, Concierge or another type of member getaways.

On the other hand, DVC members have posted that they're trying to decide which II direct exchange is most comparable to DVC accomodations. They mention looking at an II book and dealing with other agents and "trusting" in the point trade.

I don't get it. How does this work? Does DVC issue a complete II book in addition to the Member Getaways info? Could somebody please explain to help this newbie understand. Thanks!

The direct exchanges bypass the DCV II list. It gives you access to non DVC II resorts as well as RCI resorts. It also gives you and the other Party potential benefits of room assignments, discounts and cost savings. It's really no different that swapping cars or houses for a week.
