I am interested in DVC and want to drag my fiance on a DVC tour when we're in WDW in September. Do you get any perks for taking the tours that I could bribe him with? I once heard they give you free ice cream or something :woohoo:

When we did the tour last May we got free ice cream :)

Friends of ours also got a fastpass for any ride, we never got any of those though:(

We went to the 30 minute presentation at the front of MK by Tony's. Signed up at the kiosk between Stitch and the Indy Raceway in Tomorrowland. We got the Dreams book and a set of 4 "instant" fast passes that were good for I believe 3 rides per day over 4 days...

My how times change. In the '90's you would get a free meal. But also when it was just OKW, when you bought DVC you go free Parks for the 1st 5 or 10 years. Times do change.... I enjoyed my free meal though. But I guess that is no more.

INteresting. We first toured in '94, and all we got was ice cream sundaes. We did get a special room rate though at OKW for that trip too.

We toured in 1994 & got ice cream sundaes for doing the tour. We have toured in later years & got some freebie things. We bought in 1994 & got free park passes until 2000.

We toured in June this year and got free drinks and snacks, followed by ice cream sundaes. :thumbsup2 We also got a fastpass each which lasted 4 days for 3 rides a day - we really confused the ride attendants at Space Mountain as we were the first of the day to get the fastpass (before the machines had started to give them out!) Great Fun! :lmao:
Also we got the dreams book, perks book and the points in a DVC bag..oh and a DVC pad and pen!
It was a brilliant day, when we got back to MGM (the DVC bus came and picked us up and took us back) we were then surprised with a dreamfast pass on Star Tours!! yay. :yay: (we did give some of our instant fast passes away to balance it up!! ;) )

So do you think we should tour at, say AKV, or would we have a better chance of perks like fastpasses by signing up inside the MK? DF is going to flip when he hears about the free ice cream sundaes ... :cutie:

We signed up at MGM Studios, on the road leading to The Tower of Terror, and it was advetising free trips to Saratoga. I did notice AK and MK were advertising different things, like group presentations and info packs. Not sure if its different if you use different 'booths'.......it took us 2 hours, but we asked a lot of questions! (and have now bought) :cool1:

Oh, we saw the AKL rooms too as they have them set up at Saratoga, but we didn't actually go to AKL, just Saratoga. Thats were the Ice Cream is!!:lmao:

I had a friend with me on my August trip that wanted to do the tour.

The perks were a spread of cookies, coffee/tea, and lemonade. I guess there was an area to get ice cream but we missed it.

We also received a fastpass card for each of us that we ended up giving away because we didn't do parks.

The tour isn't a bad way to spend 45 minutes. You get to tour the rooms and the guides aren't very pushy like they tend to be at other timeshare companies.

I've been a DVC member for a few years and it was the first time I've done the tour. I thought it was fun. Jeff, who works the kiosk at SSR and DTD, is such a nice guy. :)

I don't think that where you sign up for the tour will make a difference in what perk you might get for taking the tour. We signed up at the table near Territory Lounge at WL.

At the end of the tour at the preview center, our guide walked us out thru the ice cream shoppe so it was kinda hard to miss. The wife and I skipped the ice cream but the kids enjoyed their sundaes. And our guide also gave us 4 instant FP-he called them superfast passes that were good for 3 rides each. We ended up buying but even if we didn't it was worth the time spent to finally find out what DVC was all about.

Sign up to take the tour. It is actually at Saratoga. The AKV models are there. If you are staying on property, DVC will pick you up and drop you off anywhere on property.

We toured twice first time in 2002, and we got free Cotton Candy (tons of it actually, we were the last tour of the day). Then in 2004 they were offering a $50 dining credit for taking the tour. DH and I knew we were buying that trip, but decided to do the presentation again to answer some of his last questions. At the end they handed each of us $50 dining credit, so that took care of our last two meals that trip. Both we're great little perks.

Last August, we were lured into touring by giving us $150.00 credit certificate to be used anywhere on property or toward our account already accumulated. it was great becuase we were planning on touring with or without a gift:rotfl2: But the certificated was definitely a great bonus!:thumbsup2

I want to do the tour in January when we go. Does it matter that we already own DVC if they are doing an incentive? I have never done the tour and would love to see the AKV model.

Should I call the guide who sent me the dream book to sign up for the tour, or should I just sign up at the parks when we get there? We want to do the tour early on our first day so I was going to go ahead and schedule it before we leave, but our guide has been on vacation and her voice mail says she's trying to catch up on calls. I hate to add one more call for her to deal with if it's not needed.
