DVC tour at Hilton Head?

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, but I'm still learning about DVC.
We just got back from BWI and saw the model BWV and loved it. However, we didn't get a chance to go on the DVC tour while we were there. Since we live fairly close to Hilton Head, would it make sense to get a tour down there, even though, if we buy, we'll probably end up buying resale to get BWV or BCV as our home resort? Just thought the tour might give us more info than we can get otherwise? Also, if we ended up buying through Disney, is Hilton Head still available? Would it be extremely difficult to get ressies at BWV or BCV if there not your home resort?

I don't believe there is any sales staff at HH anymore, so I don't think a sales tour would even be possible there. As I understand it, there is still some inventory available for HH direct through Disney for some use years.

You probabily won't be able to get a sales tour, but you may be able to get someone to take you on an unofficial tour of a room...

We've done this at VB after the sales staff left... The front desk had someone to spare and took us through a Beach Cottage....

As far as inventory... You probabily can get on the waitlist from DVC, and if inventory presents itself from RoFR they will call. If you are going to buy a large contract, I would recommend that you go through resale for HHI... It'll be cheaper in the long run.

If you are a DVC member, you can't use your points at BWI, only BWV... Booking can be hit or miss depending on what size room, when you are staying, how long, and depending on what view you want.

The biggest piece of advice you will hear on this board is "Buy where you want to stay..." In theory, DVC could one day say that we cannot stay at other resorts, and only at our home resort... I don't see them ever doing this as it will remove the value of the club, but it is possible..

Thanks so much for the info. Yes, If we did buy, I'm 99% positive we'd do a BWV or BCV resale. There's just something about being able to walk to EPCOT for dinner at a WS restaurant, and we loved the Boardwalk. But, we might be crazy, since we have only a DD14, and we're not as young as we used to be.
