Hi Guys,

We have a weekly "Saturday Spotlight" on the UK Trip Planning boards which gives information on a particular topic each week and then everyone adds their own hints and tips. Here's an overview of what and why we do it:

Saturday Spotlight is aimed at helping you get a little bit extra from your trips to Orlando. The tips mentioned here may already be known to you, but perhaps you can contribute some of your own which others might not know.

We’re not trying to rewrite the guide books and web pages dedicated to the nuts and bolts information, but hope we can add a little bit of our own icing on the cake.

We've had lots of different topics including the theme parks, value resorts, mods and deluxes - and now we are doing the DVC resorts.

I thought I would ask you experts what tips you have - they can be resort specific or a general DVC tip.

Any help will be most gratefully received!

Thanks in advance!

Karen

Guests staying at OKW, BWV or SSR should check out the activities offered at their resort's Community Hall.

Thanks tjkraz!

Anyone else please?

For guests staying at the BWV's.

1. If you are taking a bus back to the BWV from anywhere, the quickest way to get back to your room is to exit at the Swan and walk across the bridge to the Boardwalk.

2. For walker/joggers/runners out there, it is .79 of a mile around Crescent Lake which takes you past the Boardwalk and the Yacht and BC (Thanks to Caskbill for the distance).

3. If you want to play mini golf, walk over toward the Swan. Fantasia Gardens is short distance away.

Try to pick a place that matches your vacation expectations. The different DVC's all have distinct "feelings" to them. Old Key West is very laid back and has a relaxed atmosphere. The Boardwalk Villas are a busier location and a favorite of Epcot fans as you can walk to the park. The Wilderness Lodge has a rustic elegance and feels like a rich man's camping lodge. These are the ones that we have stayed at so far so maybe others can give you to info on the remaining places. :wizard:

The newest resort, SSR, is the closest Disney Resort to Downtown Disney. There is a nice, relatively short, path that leaves from the Congress Park area and goes over to DD, coming in right next the main DD bus stop area.

OKW also has a walking path to DD, beginning near building 55, going along the waterway, and meeting DD Westside near House of Blues restaurant.

If coming back from Epcot and going to BCV, there's a shortcut. Right as you pass the 'T' intersection where the bridge heads over to BW, you'll see by the BC resort a small gate on your right. Go through that gate and walk around the outside of the BC to get back to the BCV. It's much quicker than walking all the way to the main BC entrance.

If walking from BWV to MGM, do not go to the main resort entrance. Instead go the opposite direction, to the far end of the BWV rooms wing, and exit out the door at that end. You'll already be a lot closer to the MGM studios by beginning there.

If going from VWL to the boat dock, do not go through the main resort lobby and through the WL lobby. Instead, exit out the side door by the VWL pool area, and follow the paths around toward the WL pool and on toward the boat dock.

Good idea, but you may want to try individual posts for each resort. People love to brag about their resorts.

Sorry - Haven't been home yet, so not much to add.

How about - All DVC resorts have free use of washer/dryers on site. 1 BRs & are in room.
