DVC Suggestion: Free APs!

Hard to say what type of profit or problems it could create. If too many passes are given out, it could affect the pass lines. I don't think any of us want to wait 30 minutes in the Fast Pass line. Plus, I don't feel that we have more right to the passes over someone who has waited in line for the pass. Remember, they can only have so many. It kind of defeats that whole purpose if they are giving them out all over the place and printing as many as they like. There are all types of people that might feel they deserve them more than we do. I think that people visiting through Make a Wish might deserve them more than I do. I guess it just isn't that important to me. And I sure hope someone is not basing whether they buy or not on Fast Passes.

I think the impact issue is being way over exaggerated. I wouldnt think you would hand these things out like they were candy, many of the people using them would either be using them anyway or riding anyway, you are just slightly altering the way the lines are formed. dvc members at a given park on a given day at a given ride are not so large that they would make a massive impact on the line

IMO it has nothing to with deserving, I am sure there are people out there more deserving of many things.

I doubt anyone would buy based on soley on fast passes, but thats not the point, I doubt many buy soley on any one incentive or perk. Its the whole package

Sorry, but when I add in the cost of airline tickets, food, park tickets, etc., I get a number around $3,000 or more for 4 people for a week. So saving $50 per person ($200 total) just doesn't sway me one way or the other on whether we go or not. It doesn't even cover 10% of the trip. I sure won't turn it down,ut it won't help me in making the decision.

so because it doents cover 10% of the entire trip then its not good or worthwhile? last I checked a 30% discount could generate a heck of lot more than $50 per person. 7 days loaded tickets are pushing $450 bucks, meaning you could save close to $150 per person just on a 7 days ticket

and again the OP said bringing additional people, not whether you yourself and your regular guests are deciding to go. The point was that savings could put a big dent in the cost of an extra person or 2 or 3 or what have you

thats fine for you and you are entitled to that opinion, but that in no way means it would not be a benefit to others. I dont think it matters anyway cuz its a discount that is never happening, but I certainly can see the benefit of one wanting it

Everyone, including myself, have their right to their own opinion. I never said anything about the poster being wrong. I just said that when my family and friends are considering a trip to WDW, that a discount on tickets is not going to sway whether they go or not. We wouldn't turn it down. But it won't change whether my MIL goes with us or not. The poster did state that a discount would determine if they brought more family and friends. I just stated that it wouldn't for us. I totally agree with your statement about it never happening.

I think the WDW theme parks management doesn't see an economic benefit to providing discounts to DVC members on any admission tickets other than annual passes.

The argument could be made for any category of WDW guests (deluxe, moderate, value, DVC, off-site hotels, off-site timeshares, locals, etc.) that more people would buy more tickets if they were given discounts. But clearly Disney feels the current pricing maximizes the yield.

The MYW pricing is advantageous to guests with longer stays or who return regularly (if the no-expire option is added). With this pricing, most DVC members are likely to pay considerably less per day than occasional guests (or once-in-a-lifetime guests) visiting WDW for two or three days.

Before the AP Discount (which hasn't been terribly useful to us) and the MYW tickets, DVCers got discounts on UPHs - which we used because they fit our needs very well. When we lost the UPHs, we lost the discount - but the MYW tickets were CHEAPER for us than the UPHs even with the discount. (Inflation has since solved that problem....)

If we compare ourselves to others, Disney isn't doing anything "special" for us DVC members who don't get APs (I get mine through the Mousesavers link which is usually cheapest). If I compare what I got then to what I got now, the MYW tickets are a better deal. I figure coming out ahead for myself is frankly more important than coming out ahead of others - I don't really think I'm entitled to Disney treating me special - while I'll take what discounts I'm offered, it isn't a make or break feature of the program for me.
