Hi all! I am considering renting DVC points for our next trip. I checked online for which studios can accommodate 5 people, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with 5 (we have 3 adults and two kids under 10) in any of the following studios: boardwalk, beach club, poly, grand Floridian, boulder ridge. Thanks in advance for any insight you can share about how squishy it is with 5!

I think studios are tight with the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids!) So I’m not sure how comfortable you’ll be with an extra adult, too. If you are going to book one regardless, definitely lean towards VGF or Poly, as they each have an extra shower. (Poly an extra bathroom vanity as well.) Look at YouTube videos, they’ll definitely help. Good luck deciding.

Thanks for the advice! We were also looking at CBR with 5 in a standard room - I wonder if that’s any different than a studio?

I’v never stayed at CBR, but with a regular hotel room, you’re losing out on the kitchenette that you’d get in a studio. I’d definitely look at videos and compare the room sizes, but with 3 adults in a small space, I’d definitely stick to the two I mentioned above. That extra bathroom space will come in handy.

I have done a studio with 5, when all of the kids were under 10. I would not recommend it for 5 adults. Too Cramped. One Bed is a pull out couch and the other is a drop down which are only suitable for the young. I could take or leave the Kitchenette since it is only a fridge, microwave and small sink...not really conducive to cooking a meal.

I would only consider the poly. We have stayed in all of those studios - with 2 adults. No way I would put 5 people in most of them.

The studios at the poly are the largest and have the extra bathroom with shower and vanity.

Thanks all! The Poly has availability when we’re going so we’re pursuing that. I appreciate the advice!

Not an extra bathroom. Just an extra place to bathe. Still only one toilet.
Renovated these rooms are tighter than they were as hotel rooms because they took so much space for the bathroom and kitchenette.

Studios were never intended for five persons, just four.

You're gonna be better off with maybe lock off if there are 5 persons. Studios are very small and cramp with 4 people in them so that 5th is might drive you insane

If available I would also consider Riviera as it has the murphy bed instead of a pull out couch (much more comfortable).

Riv is gone at the 7 month mark for the time being so that might be an issue. Even Tower and Standard are gone at 11 for the most part

Actually Riviera is pretty wide open at 7 months right now (including Tower and Standard). 11 month bookings right now are a busy time so yes, many studios across property are already booked.

11 months is next fall, which is DVC high season.
7 months is summer, which is DVC low season because it is hotter than heck.

Right now off of the DVC site I see one night in June and then only 5 days spread out for the first two weeks of July in a Tower. Standard studio has one day in June and July one day left for the first two weeks

You're beyond 7 months for all of that. At 7 months they all have availability (so looking to book 7 months out tomorrow morning they are all available). Any time you get under 7 months it gets tough for all of those resorts.

I get what you're saying now. Though the preferred and bedrooms are defiantly wide open as you said. Must be the point cost?

It could work with any of the resorts that you mentioned. My top pick would be Poly -it has 2 showers (1 real toilet) and it is larger than most of the studios. The only issue i see is the sleeping arraignments will be tight but doable. I guess 2 kids could take the pull out couch and the 3rd adult on the Murphy bed.

I did a Boardwalk studio with 3 a couple years ago, and it was TIGHT! That being said, we stopped doing one room when my kids were about 7 and 9. We had little to no storage; lived out of our suitcases (and I like to unpack). If you considered the Swan or Dolphin, they have an offer for a family package. It is one room connecting to another, and the second room for kids is half price. You don’t get magical express, but other perks like 60 day FP+ are there.

I personally don't think a 5 is that bad when 3 are kids. I don't think I would do it with 3 adults, especially if the third is not part of the immediate family.

I think you have to consider where a lot of people are coming from when answering these (legal) 5 to a room questions. Where do they stay otherwise? It's going to feel cramped and impossible to someone whose other option is a 1 or 2 bedroom villa. It's going to feel okay to someone who is used to putting a family of 5 in a regular hotel room (and who is okay with the bed arrangements, obviously), and is considering the other 5 to a single room options.

Personally I would take nearly all of the sleep 5 studio options over one CBR room because IMO the resorts are superior. We spend a lot of time at the resort, but not a ton of time in the room itself. If space is your sole concern, there is also the 2 value rooms option.

We did the same five in one tower room at the contemporary a while back, and we were fine space wise with that. Just not looking to pay contemporary rates this time! Hoping the poly studio will be comparable.
