This right here. Your name and 2 minutes on the comptroller's site gets them all of that info, and surreptitiously to boot. Makes zero sense to ask for it voluntarily if your plan is to use it in nefarious ways.

I am not sure most folks have this knowledge that the information is publicly accessible. In any negations it’s best not to give the other party to much information that could be used as leverage. Nonetheless, glad to hear from other sellers who have used the company this is not the case.

People who work for brokers are going to know that though and that's who people were hesitant to give the info to. If they were really wanting to get that info they could without you knowing.

My point was not that the general public knows that information is available, but that brokers absolutely 100% know it's available to them without requesting it from a buyer. Therefore, if they wanted to gather that info, to provide some unfair advantage to a seller, they have zero need to request it from the buyer, and they'd likely not ask for it but simply gather themselves from the comptroller's site, leaving the buyer unaware.

In other words, if there is information about you that would be beneficial to me (or my client) in a negotiation, why would I ask you for it and possibly tip my hat, when I can simply request it from public data that I know exists, and leave you none the wiser?
