So I just booked the Fairytale deal last minute with my Mom and my girls. We were gonna go for the All-Stars since I just got back from AKL last month with my hubby and girls. Cheap was the idea. All the values were booked including CB, so we had to choose between POR or CS. My Mom has been to CS (Her only time staying on property.) so we decided on POR. Then I started worrying if it might look run down since it is due for a rehab? Called back to see if WL had openings, nope but AKL had pool views left. I booked it and went way over our intended budget! OPPS! ;) I think my Mom will be very impressed, though. We plan on eating breakfast in the room, along with some sandwiches here and there. Then I start worrying about if only I had a DVC studio for our trip! (I don't get any points until December and we've already planned those points out.) Luckily I'm going back to VWL for Christmas time with my Mom and girls. I'm so glad we'll be in a studio with a fridge, microwave and toaster! Guess I'm already thinking DVC is better... :p

Its easy to get spoiled by DVC resorts, so maybe we arent snobs, we just know what else is out there, been there, done that, cant wait to go back to a DVC resort. Have Fun :)

I know we've been spoiled by the DVC resorts....I really dislike having to stay anywhere else. We've stayed at the Contemporary (where I always used to stay), POR Riverside and the All-Stars for different reasons (the odd night being unavailable at OKW, etc.) and I was always itching to get back to OKW. It does spoil you! :smooth:

We have been spoiled too. A couple trips ago we stayed one night in a Savanna view room at AKL before our DVC trip started. It was nice, but....We don't even stay in DVC studios any more! They don't seem different than othe hotels to me. We always reserve a 2 bedroom and try to talk folks into joining us.

Well, we've only rented a studio once before so we've never tried the larger accomadations. (I'm sure that woudl spoil me to leaps and bounds...) We're actually planning on staying in studios until we can add on to stretch our points. But, having that kitchenette is a real plus! I'm really glad we did buy DVC. I think thsi will probably be our last non DVC resort trip for awhile. Thsi is really a spur of the moment impluse trip!

I admit it! I am not going to sugar coat it with the phrase "I just know what else is out there"... I confess, I am a DVC snob! :teeth:

I have been a "Disney Snob" self proclaimed, for years!!! LOL I am the one who NEVER stays off property, and last year my sister took her kids to Florida, they did the Disney parks for 1 and a half days, and then did other things in and around Orlando, I will NOT allow her to call that her "Disney vacation' She went on a Florida vacation, NOT a Disney vacation.

Now that I am a DVC member, I am sure I will become a DVC snob after my 1st trip home in November!

I just spent 6 nights in various hotels for a non-WDW DVC vacation.
I thought we were really roughing it. We stayed at a Ramada, a Baymor and a Comfort Suite.
They were all nice and clean and did offer daily maid service, BUT i missed my DVC terribly.
Most of there rooms also averaged 80 a night.

I would hesitate to call ourselves DVC snobs, because that seems to suggest that we think we are better than those poor people who have to manage in WDW resorts or (gasp!) off-site accommodations.

I prefer to think of myself as DVC-Pampered! :)

By the way, I realize that the term DVC Snob is tongue-in-cheek. :)

I love my DVC membership dearly and I love staying in the DVC resorts but I know I am not a DVC snob because I also enjoy very much staying in the other WDW resorts for a few nights every trip. Actually there are several deluxe resorts that I would rather stay at then some DVC resorts. I know many people feel as though once they stay in a DVC villa they do not want to ever stay anywhere else but not us, we really enjoy the other resorts as well as the DVC resorts. I certainly do not consider staying at the YC, GF, BI, Poly etc roughing it. LOL! All the WDW resorts have remarkable atmospheres and the higher the resort the nicer the atmospheres, I think it is fun to experience the different atmospheres for a few days.
We will very often arrive in Orlando Fri evening so we check into another WDW resort for the first 2 nights and then go to our DVC resort on Sun., we really enjoy spending time at the resort's pool, restaurants, getting room service, etc. However our travel group always consists of adults only and usually we are a party of 2-3 people so staying in multiple resorts on a trip is much easier than when dealing with multiple people, luggage, young kids, etc.
I just added on more DVC pts and I still plan to spend a couple days each trip at a non DVC resort, to me it is part of my WDW fun. Matter of fact for my Sept trip, I am going the first week for business so my employer pays for the room and they won't reimburse me for DVC pts, nor would I want to use my DVC pts, so I will be staying the whole first week at a non DVC resort and then the next week at BCV on pts when the vacation part of the trip begins. I am just waiting now to see which resorts have the best discounts and then I pick whichever atmopshere I am in the mood for. There are too many really nice WDW resorts for me to ever give up staying at them all together, but that is just my preferences.

People call us snob..... but it's really just basic necessity. Once you get used to DVC, there is no other way to travel. Well, Four Seasons was pretty close...... but not the price tag. ;)
