DVC Site Maintenance

I think this will lead to members walking reservations that are 4 or more days long, if their booking window for the days they want opens when member services is closed. On 6/17 book the nights of 6/17 to 6/20, or however many nights you can book with your available points. Then when MS reopens on 6/20 modify to what you really want. I know at the 7 month window having the 20th does not guarantee being able to get the 21st forward, but you are ahead of anyone else trying to book at 7 months who waits until the 20th to start booking, since if they can not get the 20th they cannot book any dates that are further out.

So, we can call on July 17? That’s my booking date for after DVC Wish Cruise.

Yes. It starts at 10 pm on the 17th.
Thanks, that’s good. I would have to borrow if I had to book a day earlier than I wanted, and then cancel the extra day when maintenance was over.

I am getting an error while trying to access the page today
Does anyone know what the issue is?

Funny how most of us think alike. I already prepared to do screenshots of points balances, reservations with numbers and dates. You would think we’ve been down this road before…lol…

prepare for the worse and hope for the best! Maybe we’ll be able to renew our AP online. Though I wonder how many bug fixes will happen afterwards. I always get nervous when this happens. Of course it’s my 7 month booking window, but whatever, I’ll deal with it later.

System won’t let me book any room - says not enough points, I hit proceed - then it says room not available.

Wonder if it has anything to do with the rumor described in this post (As in a significant upgrade of IT platform that potetnially can be tied to DVC):

They established the new platform while the parks were closed knowing they would need park reservations capabilities. So the platform was built using basic tickets, only existing aps, dining and room reservations, etc. The goal was to add a fp system, dining plans, sale of new aps possibly with new tiers, and do it step by step. They tested the old fp+ platform in Live environment in January and it crashed the platform for 3 hours. Reservations, IHD, everything went down. So they took it back to test environment, fixed I s sues, tried it again and it worked. So they tried a new system in test with mixed results. Tried it in live and it flopped, crashed the platform etc. So they have been running it in test environment again. Only the fp+ code has been workable on the new platform up to now. Never know what tomorrow will bring. Technology can be a monster.
It did but it was limited and didn't overburden the system. A new system of hybrid would have a larger scope and touch more programs intermingled with it. And it was on the old platform without park reservations

It was mentioned in the ROFR thread that transfers won't be done from July 8th to July 20th due to maintenance. I heard a rumor about this last week but haven't seen anything official. Anyone have additional info on this that's been verified by Disney?

Also, if this is true, wouldn't that mean direct sales couldn't be done either since that involves transferring from DVD to the new owner?

Not necessarily as it’s a slightly different process when you are buying from DVD. That is why accounts can be created in a day.

From what I understand they have different people doing the transfers within the same department of MA.

I think I’m going to take screen shots of all my reservations just in case (when) there’s problems with the new systems.

I had the same thought. History has shown that the one certainty that will exist after the new major changes are done is that most everything of importance when using the website will be screwed up for at least the next two to three years.

I recently passed ROFR and received this message. I was actually wondering if it was a typo and they ment July 18th. It seems 12 days of downtime is alot. I couldn't imagine trying to get through that backlog of I were a CM.

Just as a follow up, I posted this in the ROFR thread in response to a few comments on MA shutting down but thought it might be useful here too:

We closed a week and a half ago. We were told that they're still transferring contracts in the normal timeframes (~2 weeks) for ones they received before shutting down. The shutdown was to stop more contracts from being sent in while they get caught up. I'm not sure how this helps long term since they'll just be backed up again once they reopen. Unless they're also going to use the time to train more people so that when they open back up, they can get through the new backlog quicker.
