Went to AKL-J earlier this week after a weekend DCL.
While on the drive home, DW realized that she had forgot to pack up her heating pad, and she knew exactly where she left it.
I called the resort - yes I have the back door numbers to the resorts - not the normal numbers.
Got Mousekeeping on the phone, explained the situation, they stated that they would get the item to lost & found, and sent to our house.
The next morning FEDEX delivered the heating pad to our home before 9AM.
I am notifying member satisfaction of this great work.

Thanks for sharing - and for writing to Member Satisfaction. It can get very tiring reading only about the problems! :)

Where does one find these direct phone numbers?
One doesn't.

Most people are stuck calling the "calling center" and talking to a cast member that isn't even in Florida, let alone at your resort.

The chances of this happening to someone that has to call the call center, is nil.

I have to disagree. Last Oct. I left an expensive camera lens in the room when we left. I called the general lost and found number, they had it, and I received it via Fed Ex the next day.

Most posts here are about housekeeping not seeing anything extra in the room. Getting bounced around to different cast members, and never hearing from Disney again concerning the lost item.

You were extremely lucky that they found it.

AKV, Jambo went overboard and returned a “blankie” to our young grand daughter years ago. It was amazing!

Never found a clothing carrier that was left near Lobby. I think that just walked off with guests who did not realize what they had and could not bother to return it.

Complaints are listed more often than compliments. That’s why you see and remember more of those. Doesn’t mean the good stuff doesn’t happen.

Had a great experience at POR a few years back when I left a kindle in the room. Dh works for kindle and it was borrowed from work, so it wasn’t even mine. We were at Universal when I realized, had to drive back over later in. They golf-carted over to the lost and found place after contacting the housekeeper, and brought it to me.

I put that story in my trip report, but not out in the general area because who would care? :)

Not at WDW, but several years ago, I realized I had left my DSs' swim trunks in the laundry room dryer at HHI. I called them, and they shipped them the next day. We were pretty impressed. It was one of our first DVC trips.

I think you are seeing the complaints as stated above and those of us with positive experiences tend not to post.
