Hey All! Does anyone know if DVC resorts are currently fully booking their rooms due to Covid? We are hoping to snag a two bedroom for 5-7 days in early to mid December but currently not many dates are available. Thanks!!!!

The whole fall season of 2021 is pretty much booked up. Waitlist and stalk and book whatever you can now. It will be difficult to get reservations if you have not already. There’s a lot of members with points to burn with hope that things will be a little more normal by then.

DVC resorts have been fully opened for bookings since they reopened. That's just a very busy time plus, as mentioned, there are a lot of people with a lot of extra points right now. Good luck piecing something together though.

They can’t keep rooms from booking for DVC. So, once resorts opened, all rooms were available for bookings

That time of year books up right at 11 months. Some people even walk reservations to ensure bookings.

Thanks All! We have decided to go to our home resort for now at Wilderness Lodge and hope a resort we have never booked at opens up. :) Happy Sunday!

Early Dec gets booked up at 11 months out. Even with covid.

it's important to remember, that yes, they are all open, however, each room is disinfected, and taken off the line for 24 hrs post checkout. They even do the carpets, all the appliances, change all linens, and clean curtains, chairs, etc. with a spay disinfectant. SO, if Disney is taking covid so seriously, maybe all of us should be too!

Not DVC if fully booked. It would be a violation of the contracts to have less rooms than points sold once open.

Now, DVD retains ownership of at least 2% of resorts and more with points they have reawakened so that does give them wiggle room which is why we have seen upgrades.

I wouldn't switch - you're got the best themed resort for Christmas time! :santa:

they aren't booking them, they put all rooms on 24 hr hold post checkout. so they do not get booked. they do not expect this to change until this fall. This is first hand, from a housekeeping staff member. IF you have other first hand info please post it so we can cancel. Thanks.

I know this is not the case. Not sure where you heard this from but they are literally cleaning rooms and placing people into them as soon as they are done.

It takes around 3hours to clean a villa now though. Which is why they are struggling to get rooms cleaned fast enough.

And my husband was placed into a dirty room at Jambo in Dec. It was a check out that day and housekeeping marked it clean for some reason and never cleaned it. He walked into a very obviously just vacated room.

For Disney hotels they initially were trying to keep 24 hours in between.

But, as you said, DVC is different and have never had inventory gel from booking.

Directly from people at DVC management that I talked to in the past year. Remember, housekeepers work on both cash and DVC and many are not going to know how to explain the differences or even know.

As I mentioned, DVD owns points that they can use to book rooms as they are an owner like the rest of us. So those may be rooms DVD uses to help keep rooms empty if possible.

Bur, they absolutely are not keeping DVC rooms free for 24 hours between guests unless they have occupancy low enough from DVC points booking to do it.

When we were at BCV in January, it took almost four hours past check in to get into our room. Every time I checked for an update at the front desk, the cast member said, “They’re working on it” or “they’re almost finished cleaning it.” I hope he wasn’t lying to me...most likely, they aren’t able to do 24 hour turn around most of the time due to demand.

I spoke to a manager at one of the DVC resorts. was I lied to? I would like more evidence, but if this is true, I"ll be canceling.

I can only share what I inquired about and the legality of the opening and closing. They can not legally hold rooms out from booking because it is a timeshare.

So, when resorts opened, they had to release all rooms to owners, and that includes DVD. Again, DVD owns at least 2% of the resort so they do have wiggle room.

Do they try to keep rooms empty? Yes. That is why we have seen upgrades. But, it’s because owners did not book, and they could do it,

However, if you were told that every DVC room is left empty for 24 hours after each guest checks out? Yeah, don’t think that is the case because in January when we were at BLT, we saw people leave the room next to us the day after we checked in and a new group checked in later that night. So, there was definitely not a 24 hour period between guests. We were in a BWV 1 bedroom in October and saw the same thing.

So, from my experience, there were definitely rooms that turned over the same day.

reply thank you for your info! WE shall wait.

Agree with what Sandisw stated. My wife and I stayed at Riviera and Copper Creek in January. We noticed the DVC rooms at both resorts turned over within hours the same day.
