thanks ncligs for the detailed history again. i didn't see some of those in the older posts.
yes, i guess i was getting confused 'cause people kept saying they bought BCV presales for $70/pt. guess that was actually $75/pt with $5/pt MB.
anyway, the history is interesting.
my observations:
it seems, for the first 4 years when there was only OKW, DVD raised prices a little at a time (every 4 to 8 mos) so that they got from $48 to $62.75.
then, this is strange to me, but amazingly the price held steady at $62.75 for over 3 years. what a long time w/ no price increase! i wonder why this was?
looks like VBR, HHI, and BWV all opened during those 3 years.
then, after they announced VWL, the price went up a teeny bit to $65.
and a few months before VWL opened, they raised it again to $67. at this point it looked like DVD might've gone back to raising 2 to 3 times a year 'cause they were up to $75 by summer 2001.
i guess probably the economy and 9/11 caused them to hold off on that and stay steady instead at $75 until last year?
and then they decided to test the market and go back to raises every 5 mos or so which got us here to $84/pt today.
so, i wonder if this means they were planning to go back to raising prices 2 to 3 times a year again?
except with the war and all...maybe not? hm...
interesting, and impossible to analyze, huh?
btw, does anyone have the dates that DVD officially announced BWV and VWL were "sold out"? have there been official "sold out" announcements yet for HHI?
