This will be my first time down using my new dvc ownership(whoo hoo), I was wondering if everyone on the same reservation has to be on the exact same plan. I have a feeling that everyone in the room has to be on the dining plan or I may be wrong. However does everyone have to be on the same theme park ticket plan. Why i ask is my parents want to come down to see my son and I the second week of the trip when we move to OKW, but they dont want to go to the parks, they just want to come and visit for the week. I told them they will have to go on the Dining Plan because we will be but im not sure if they have to buy MYW tickets. Any help please. Thank you

If you do buy a dining plan, it has to be the same for all and for all days on the reservation.

You don't have to buy tickets if you are staying on points, they can be purchased separately.

Everyone on the reservation staying in the same unit must buy the DDP for every night of the stay if you want the DDP.

The good news is that there is no similar requirement for tickets. Each person may buy whatever tiicket he/she chooses or even none at all.

If your parents have their own room, they will not have to buy the DDP. If they are staying in your room, they (or you) will - for each night of the entire stay, whether they are there or not.

Thats perfect, thank you for the quick replies. We are in a 2 bedroom and we all dont mind having the DDP, its just my son and I will be there a week ahead of that and will be using our 10 day MYW passes or AP if we decide to go that route. My parents just wanted to come down and visit and not go to the parks. Thank you for the info.

I may misunderstand what you're saying, but if you decide to buy the DDP (and you'll have to buy it for your parents too), you'll be spending an additional $80.00 (approx) a day for the days they're not there. Is that worth it?

I'd have to think about that to see if it was worth it.

Just a thought, but if you decide to buy an AP you might be better off getting the DDE (Disney Dining Experience Card). You have to have an AP (but only one) to get the DDE. The cost is $65.00 and it gives you a 20% discount for almost Table Service Meals for up to 10 people in your dining party. It's good for one year, so if you returned for another trip within that time you could use both the AP and the DDE again. You could buy one AP (adult) using the DVC discount and if you wanted you could get the MYW pass for your son.

I'd ask all the questions you want on these boards before making any decisions. There are many people here (not me though) who are experts and know all the options.

Have a wonderful trip.

The second week of the vacation my son and I will be moving to OKW where my parents will meet up with us for the visit. They have been to Disney alot themselves so they want the DDP to go to Boma, California grill, Ohana and places like that, so I believe it is okay because they will go to restaraunts at resorts and not in the parks, and my son and I will join them on some of those. When my parents are on vacation they wont cook so this way they can go where they want.

Im sorry, I reread your post and know what your thinking. The first week we will be at Boardwalk and is a different reservation so we will not need to buy the DDP for them that first week.

It sounds like you've made your decision so this is just to make sure you have the options. An option in your situation would be to get the AP (at least one) and then get the DDE card where you would get a 20% discount on all of those restaurants and including alcohol. It's unlikely you'd save any money comparatively using the DD, esp. with the changes for 08.
